One thing I've heard a few times is the developers will soon be making it so that players in public matches are separated by how much SP they have. I personally think this is a TERRIBLE idea. I invest my SP at being able to fill a lot of roles, not into maxing out proto suits. I don't want to be grouped with a bunch protos running complex gear with all their support skills related to their speciality maxed all the time.
Here's how it should work.
There Needs to Be a PVP Ranking
At the end of each match players should gain or lose PVP ranking based on the rank they got in the match. The higher you place the more points (or less negative points) you get. With your rank slowly going up and down based off this.
Players Should be Grouped by Rank / Location
The server should try to group players of similar rank in the same region together first. So if you are a very high ranked PVPer, you'll get grouped with a lot of other good players. If you are very bad, you get placed with bad players. But it still pays attention to whether they are next door or in Africa to avoid super laggy matches.
ISK Payout Should Be Effected by the Average Player Rank in a Match
We are are mercenaries. If we gain a fearsome reputation, we should get paid more. The current ISK payout should be what is given to bottom ranking players. As you advance in rank you should get A LOT more ISK This both compensates for the fact that high ranked players are going to be throwing a lot more proto suits and well fitted vehicles at each other, and incentivises people to climb in PVP rank.

But, but whatever will the protostompers do if confronted with opposition befitting their skill level?
That, that's just unfair!

Lowest ranking will be the dropship dogfights, since our WP is so low. |

Well yes... obviously that will need to be fixed. Along with some of the other crazy things you don't get WP for, but they have been needing to do that for a long time anyway. It isn't fair that great dropship pilots don't get rewarded the additional ISK and SP they are due. I have great respect for anyone who can hold one of those damn things in the air given their horrid controls. |

Quote:Im curious has anyone suggested a system that involves just transfering WP over into SP?
And Make it hooked to WP for entire sqaud?
For one attaching it to total sqaud points encourages sqaud play, as well as joining and playing with a Corp.
Currently its 5sp per second in match and 1sp per wp.
So what i can think of currently :
Sqaud accumulitive WP *2= "SWP"
"SWP" - 4000="SWP2" If SWP2 <0 then SP= SWP else SP= 4000+"SWP2"/2
And instead of removing bonus sp after cap i suggest removing the multiplier with this system.
This would effectively remove AFK'ers from the game, and reward sqaud play. Plus make being a dropship pilot viable even though i did have one match where my pilot raked in 750 WP with me gunning, damn good match that was but rare considering how easy they are to shoot down usually.
Note: I kept the bonus cap so low because with a sqaud of 2 i can easily make that cap, but with a sqaud of six iif all six players get 1k WP With a Cap of 4k you would be seeing every player get 8'000 SP. So the numbers may need to be played around with to get a happy number but should be averaged out for a 4 person sqaud in my opinion.
ex. 4 player sqaud all earns 1000 wp
4000*2=8000 8000-4000=4000 4000/2=2000 2000+4000=6000
Personally im happy with that as a normal average. Not sure what everyone else thinks on this though i know i will often see less than that but as long as i see one orbital pop i know ive gotten 4500 SP
If this system would be put in place CAP/Multiplier can be modified per Mode.
This is from my threadhttps://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1027818#post1027818
A system like this would benifit dropship pilots if points given for rankings were also taken from entire sqaud in some form. And balance play between between players. Naturally the more WP your earning the higher the rank and the more SP you would be given. I do agree with the ranking system due to the fact that a new player may be really good but the may not have a challenge for awhile until they grind away at the sp. But may be able to get into hire tiers well before then. Also with the system i suggest they may be able to catch up to the SP the higher ranks have if the cap is removed.
IMO if you reward skill and reward PTFO you get get people playing. And then yes increase ISK earned per rank of match. |
