If we want railtanks to keep their firepower while making the dropships playable, I think we need to put our heads together to find a solution for not rewarding red lining players. I'll confess, I do it as well so I am not judging but I think there is something wrong to destroying vehicules or suits that are worth millions if you don't put your machinery on the line to achieve that goal. What I found interesting about this game initially was the concept of putting ships, tanks and jeeps on the road and do an epic face to face.
This however, quickly turned into pigeons being shot in the sky by redlining tanks while lavs just running around hoping to get some free easy kills instead of teamworking with a comrade on the turret. To me the appeal of this game was that when you put a vehicule on the map it is yours and you should treat it with respect because ressources are finite and good management is needed. I have always been against free or even cheap vehicules because of kamikaze but that is an entire debate in itself.
The big issue here is how to make epic battles rather than having big battlefields filled with people AFKing and at the other ends of the maps, completely immune to risk. When there was only a redline and no red zone per say, it was pubstomp fest and it wasnt fun on either end of the stick. Now that this is dealth with, fights are not as intense as they use to be (for me anyways) and it's now just sniping meets duckhunt. I'll just throw some ideas hoping that complaining becomes more like brainstorming. Feel free to jump in.
-Timer on how long you can stay in the red zone and if the majority of players are inside for x amount of time, the battle is lost, game over. -No WP for kills inside the red zone -You can stay as long as you want in the red zone, but if you kill someone or a vehicule from inside, an orbital strike is called on your head. (that would get abused so bad unless it was localised on you alone) -During a match, vehicules have lets say 60 seconds TOTAL that they can spend in the red zone or they get destroyed. -Inactive players get kicked quicker: could be WP based? |
