As a dedicated support logi I will pull out all the best gear for my heavies. I will sacrifice kill potential, mobility and a lot of ISK to make sure they feel safe and can stay in the fight. That said, they better listen to me when I tell them to pull back, and they better get between me and the firefight. They are the tank, I am the healer, so they better be tanking damage. |

I see heavies being left in the dust (no pun intended) plenty of times. If I'm running assault, I try to stick with the heavy to compensate for his lack of movement. Scratch my back and I scratch yours.
Heavies shouldn't be chasing people nor should he be trying to stick with the Logi. It's an elephant with a trunk for christ sakes. I think the Logi should stick with the heavy. If used properly, the heavy should be the brute force that leaves the holes in the majority of the opposing team's armor.
Ironically, isn't what they show on one of the vids? The heavies are on the frontlines firing while everybody is behind them pulling the rear.
Your point is taken, and I never ask a heavy to look for me, I usually ask if anyone needs a logi. Where I ask a heavy to do things, is while moving. My rep tool doesn't work when I sprint, or when my target goes around a corner. So if a heavy sprints away, I have to turn off the repper. They take a long time to rep, and if they aren't willing to slow down to be healed, it make keeping them alive even harder. Reacquiring a target can also be a huge hassle in the middle of a firefight. So going around corners and sprinting all over the place makes healing the heavy dangerous for both of us. Aiming the repper isn't always difficult, but if other targets are nearby and I have to reacquire, it's a nightmare. Problems like these make it more effective to just pull out a weapon and not worry about the heavy at all.
So these tips and requests are for making our job easier, and that job is to keep heavies in the fight. |
