i AFK because theres a skill cap to reach and im not always able(or even want) to dedicate my time to a game im not paying for.
having said this, if they simply did away with the feel-good 'participation' points for simply being in a match, people wouldnt afk in battles... make that bonus SP actually a BONUS for playing well rather than having a hard-cap of 1k/battle, even with bonus sp on triple sp week... either make it apply to active participation or make it apply to the passive sp gain, and there will be no reason to AFK farm such as this.
people are going to cap multiple characters a week if its based on warpoints, but how many of us cap 2+ characters already? experienced players will either cap a few extras, who dont stack since its not exactly easy swapping characters mid-battle, and newer players will actually want to learn how to play better...
pure passive means EVERYONE gets the weekly cap, discourages alt characters, and most notably devalues active boosters. ... or does it? 190k SP/week = 1130SP/hour by my math, meaning even capped you can still earn more SP/Hour by doing well in battles while ACTUALLY playing, meaning the no-lifers would still have reasons to purchase the active boosters...
i feel that this 'good intentioned' feature needs to be completely overhauled, and have said it before that if they did away with the feelgood bonus sp mechanic were currently using, that itd fix a lot of the problem better than AFK punt or worse yet vote-kick... 2 squads can get into matches with eachother fairly easily in merc battles, and would be able to kick other players just to allow their own buddies in. i say this because this is what i would do if given the option to punt people.
as for why AFK punt is a bad idea in my opinion, LIFE happens, and is often times more pressing than a videogame... people with children should understand what sort of situations i am implying... sometimes life takes 30 minutes, other times it takes only a few minutes or less... to have to IGNORE life so that you dont lose the payout for a nearly 30 minute match is not exactly what i would call a good time... now i realize its a serious and competitive game, but that i cant set my controller down when i NEED to, without fear of 'punishment', seems a little over severe |

idk if id agree to a 5 second confirmation to deployment after having seen some of the lag related issues of DUST... and would be frustrated having to confirm i wanted to play after having queued up into battle by myself... and would be more frustrating if i were out smoking between matches and the squad lead queued up without waiting, that id have to sit out for 30 minutes because i missed the first 30 seconds of a match...
i admit that the 'confirmation' mechanic does have its merits, but seems like there would be difficulties with the mechanic in the groups i normally play with, and all it really requires is that we take our smoke breaks AFTER starting a match rather than in the loading screens, match finding, and pre-game lobby...
but as i said, i still feel they should revamp the entire bonus sp system, to either be ALL passive, or based STRICTLY upon match performance, rather than simply 'time in battle' |
