Honestly, I think the mass driver really suffers from it's resistances, 70/135. (70% to shields, 135% to armor) Shields are the first layer of all suits, and are also the most common tanking type. Even on my Gallente assault, with a mere 150 shields, a mass driver using splash damage needs two shots to take down my shields. On a Caldari with 500+ shields mass drivers are a joke. That means the mass driver user has to rely on Flux grenades to not perform poorly. This reliance really drags it down, as you can only carry three, and then you need to use a nanohive to replenish it, and grenades use up a lot from the nanohives pool of ammo. I think bringing it up to 80/120 or 90/110 would really help the mass driver. |

TheAmazing FlyingPig wrote:If you're using a mass driver, targeting shield tanked opponents is asking to get shot in the face. If it's an armored opponent, than their shields should put up little resistance. Besides, it's an area of denial weapon, it's not an instagib rifle. And why should that be the case? It's not like that with the scrambler rifle. Putting it at 80/120 or 90/110 will let them deal with all opponents. |

Its called diversity, why make every weapon have the damage balanced (or close too balanced damage) to every resistance.. ? I enjoy knowing my rounds are going to do less damage to shields, makes for more in depth meta, before the match and/or during.. Especially end game, high sp players can switch between roles not to mention when supply depots are able to be called in by players, and more intense large scale battles appear. . Then there should be anti shield weapons that do that kind of damage. And they should have splash damage too. |

Combined with the disorientating smoke and the inability to pinpoint where I'm firing from, heavies fall if they don't have a height advantage.
Light suits meet the same fate, now that AoE has been buffed. They can't strafe around my explosions.
Only problem is when I fail a flux throw, or get caught at medium-long range by an assault without cover, or get caught by 2 or more enemies.
Direct hits are insanely effective against shields, that's all we need.
All accurate. Mass drivers are fine how they are now. Once CCP fixes flaylocks (The reason why people aren't armor tanking now is the flaylock) people will start armor tanking more often, and all will be well in the world. No, not really. Now that the mass driver got buffed, even if the flaylock was nerfed hard there won't be an increase in armor tankers. Besides, shield tankers are superior in every way, seriously, there is no upside to armor except for a few minor things that are NOT worth all the downsides. |

I need to double check again, but I'm pretty sure that's the case since 1.2. I'll try to confirm tomorrow. Nope, tested with Arkena, 135% to armor. |
