Not that I love Contact Grenades. They're skill-less panic buttons.
But then game has Mass Drivers and Flaylocks in it, and they're functionally identitical.
I think Contact Grenades should be nerfed in damage/explosion radius to the point that they're balanced against Locus 'nades.
-1 also.
Just to put things in context, i flat-out refuse to use contact grenades. I like to earn what i take. Aaaaand....the hypocrisy confession: i do use the flaylock, but that's because i'm a sentimental Minmatar loyalist - been a big smg user up to now.
I like Distubingly Bored's take on this, it touches all the bases. In terms of damage, i want to see contact grenades
unable to one-shot a STD suit with an average tank - maybe doing 50% of the total EHP of said STD suit.
This way contact 'nades would still be useful as finishers and still be worth carrying, but other 'nades like flux or the M1 Locus would be worth consideration for their flexibility.
But I also like:

I'd like to see gameplay enriched by these grenades, something like contact grenades that do half the damage of the basic contact 'nades but have added functionality that makes sense for a contact weapon. Some ideas:
VNGs(Viral Nanite Grenades) 25% STD suit EHP damage, and viral nanites that temporarily suppress or reverse the shield or armor repping of target suit.
TNGs(Tagging Nanite Grenades) 25% STD suit EHP damage, and TACNET nanites that temporarily light up the suit for the TACNET.
MyNGs(Myofibril Nanite Grenades) 25% STD suit EHP damage, and synthetic myofibril nanites that temporarily work against the suit servomotors to slow the user down.
OENGs(Opto-Electronic Nanite Grenades) 25% STD suit EHP damage, and Opto-Electronic nanites that seek out and temporarily overlay optical sensors, messing with the Image projected on the target's HUD.
I'm sure peeps will have some very cool ideas about what they'd like to see for functionality here.
But the punchline is that, sure, keep contact grenades - but only if they
enhance gameplay, as opposed to the current situation where they are detracting from it.
