Initial note :- I would rather matchmaking was fixed 1st and balanced out between players like this :- Academy 1- 500k - 1m sp Academy 2-1,000,001-3m sp Academy 3-3,000,001-5m sp Academy 4-5,000,000-8m sp Academy 5-8m+
Obviously change the names but I just wanted to give a basic example and furthermore if ppl join a game in a squad take the average sp of the squad (anyone with over 10m sp has it counted as a standard 10m sp so we dont get ppl with 18m sp squadding with ppl of 1m sp ad havign the average being 9/10m and puttign them into the elite gamemode and instead it will be 10m sp and 1m sp with the average being 5.5m and putting them in a gamemode of academy 4 with ppl of sp between 5-8m) If i haven't explained anything or you have any suggestions please feel free to mention them, this is just a basic idea and the more development and input others give the better it can be .. work in progress
Game Mode Idea
I just read a post from someone (cant remember their name but if they read this/someone says who it was i'll edit this and add their name because they gave me an idea on a game mode which is a development of his idea ((indoor infantry only map basically))
With this game supposedly being linked to Eve i do think they have missed 1 massive game mode and it's so blatantly obvious they'll kick themselves ...
Why are battles restricted to being fought on planetary locations ? I've seen alot of Eve videos which shows space stations accross the universe so why not create a game mode that allows mercs in dust to fight over the space stations on behalf of their eve counterparts, this game mode would be like skirmish in that each team has to fight and hold various points in the space station with no vehicles allowed inside the station, i would suggest that they fight over a control room which they have to capture and hold for a set period of time for them to win the game .. this can either be a defender and attacker game mode where 1 team has to defend the control room from the enemy and for the attacker to win they have to capture it from the defenders and hold it for 3 minutes or just a general infantry only domination map,
The attacker and defender game mode could easily be linked to eve lore wise so instead of just fighting over planetary locations for resources like you've done in PC once they have a certain amount of planets in a particular system they can then build a space station which allows them better production of resources such as clones, reduced vehicle production, special system only shops (a space station created in a caldari system sells unique caldari equipment from resources gathered from the planets under your control in that system,protects a certain amount of planets within that system from being attacked for a set period of time at a cost of ISK and this protection lasts 3 days and has a cd of 4 days eg you own 3 planets you can pay 200m ISK to protect 2 of the 3 planets for 3 days ( 1 planet has to be available to be attacked from enemies at all times but at least it stops corps being overrun due to repeat battles on 1 particular location so even if they lose it they still have 2 protected which means they can then go and attack someone else for the next 3 days knowing their remaining 2 planets are protected) this will encourage ppl to attack (because they wont be forced to defend all the time) and defend because you always have to have 1 planet available to be attacked if you end up only having 1 then you cant protect it with the space station anymore and have to defend it directly and this will stop ppl simply not showing up to defend because the next step after losing all planets in a system ... is a direct attack on the space station .. the thing that cost hundreds of millions of ISK to build that gives you various benefits in that system can be attacked and taken over, if you choose not to defend it then wave bye bye to all that ISK you pumped into it ..
This game mode will encourage alliances within a system for mutual protection or betrayal from a greedy corp who want that system to themselves, the benefits for a corp/alliance that have stations and planets will be huge but if you dont protect your assets the loss will be equally as big, this will make losing planetary locations and stations actually mean something and you could link this into Eve by allowing allied eve corps to use the stations as a safe haven in various locations accross the universe and give them access to mines shops within that system or have them as a base to initiate attacks on other ships, also if a space station is owned within a system and a planet is attacked the attackers wont be able to call in orbital attacks because it will be able to be attacked freely by allied ships within the system and the space station itself(can fit the station with defence mechanisms for enemy ships in the vicinity (Eve players will have to battle v each other to be able to provide support from space so a coordinated attack by Eve pilots and dust mercs can give them the advantage of preventing the enemy from calling in orbital attacks and hopefully this will mean a battle on the ground and a battle in space at the same time in the same location (if it was possible to show the graphic of a ship being destroyed in space for the troops fighting on the ground eg debris falling from space into the atmosphere that would be AWESOME but obviously that is ridiculously difficult to do and is more of a dream than a suggestion)
Alot of ideas and i'm sure there are things i've talked about which are stupid and impossible or extremely flawed but this is a suggestion and please give me feedback on what you think, how it could be implemented, suggestions on what else it could include/advancement of the idea and how it could be linked to Eve gameplay more because i've never played Eve so im goign in blind |
