Resumable Downloads!!
I don't have a very stable connection, but it is stable enough for me to usually do five or six skirmishes before it glitches and I lose connection for a moment. I have come to accept this as a price I must pay for my horrible isp. (the only one available to me unless I want to spend a few thousand dollars to have the competition extend it's main line within range of my house) I was looking forward to the new update and excited about the idea of dropping lifeless clones all over the new snow covered maps (granted, most of the lifeless clones would be my own and not my enemies ). I have been trying to download the update since yesterday morning and the highest I have made it is 66%. All it takes is a momentary glitch for me to be sent all the way back to the beginning.
It looks like I am done with Dust514 for the foreseeable future, not by choice, but because I cannot download this very large update in parts.
(sorry, just needed to vent) |

When I click on dust, I get a message saying that the latest update has been found and it starts downloading it. It doesn't come through download management. The only way I was able to get this game in the first place was by downloading a little at a time. When I tried out D.C. Universe, the updates came from the game login screen and were resumable. I was just wishing that dust would be the same in that respect. I am not really expecting them to change to that method, or even suggesting that they should when other more important updates take precedence. I was mainly just venting, frustrated that the only competition my crappy isp has stops just a few feet beyond the reach of my house.
Maybe I will be able to rejoin the rest of you on the battlefield after it stops raining. My connectivity gets much worse when it rains and we have had a very soggy week here so far.

Delta 749 wrote:Having the same problem as you but I have no idea who the problem really is For example last week I downloaded Saints Row 3 off PSN in one go with absolutely no problems, update other games absolutely no problems Try to update Dust and I get an estimated download time longer than Saints Row 3 which is more than three times the size of this patch and it keeps getting a stop error so I havent gotten to play and make some scouts QQ
I know for a fact that my internet connection is my main problem. (took 3 attempts to get my last post here to go through) There are probably small issues on the other side as well. There are still probably quite a few people trying to download this update at the moment taxing the system a little bit.
My current attempt is at 29% with 192 minutes left at current download speed. This is actually my fastest attempt so far. |

I seem to have missed your edit while I was typing. Thank you for that little tidbit of info. If (when) this download attempt fails, I will have to try that. That method also has the added benefit of allowing me to use my ps3 for other games while downloading. |

Well, I finally made it in. The tip worked.
The new updates look good, though I am not able to participate at all now. My HMG is too slow for this noob to do anything with it. |
