So, every time we get an update or every time we get a new vehicle/dropsuit etc........ you want a respec? Because 'oh think about the new people, think about those who want to spec into this new suit or vehicle, think of the children! Won't somebody please think of the children'. Give me a f***ing break!!!! There are always going to be new stuff added and there will always be expansions, if you want to spec into a possible future suit/vehicle......SAVE YOUR SP AND STOP WASTING IT TO SPEC INTO PROTO etc. no more respecs, its getting ridiculous and I can't believe you even took the time to create a thread requesting such a thing. People are laughing at you. again, there will be no more respecs. |

I dont think new content deserves respecs i believe racial vehicle/suits that are the same tier of what weer have now (ie minmatar HAV or Caldari light suit) deserve a respec. I love playing Heavy to do so i HAVE to spec amarr, i wanted to spec winmatar or possibly gallente once i see the suit i shouldn't have to dump millions of SP and just forget about the SP already spent on something that should be out already.
I also dont want a full respec, only the same tier stuff should get refunded. So amarr heavy=yes grenades or cor upgrades=no. |

I feel for ya, but what you've said doesn't make sense.
What about when the pilot drops, or MTACs, or fighters?
There are always going to be new roles added, and new things to do. It simply would ruin the game to keep having respecs.
What you should have done was bank your sp. Spec minimally into heavy for now maybe. Maybe try out different suits knowing that you'll just keep it around as an alt. As an extreme choice, you could have just created a character and let the passive SP build up until the suits you want are in game.
The point is that no one is being forced into anything. You should also be diversifying your points anyway as some builds/roles will wax and wane in terms of power and utility. This is how real life works, and this is how New Eden works.

Respecs should practically be a purchasable commodity in this game with how the updates roll out. With how small the player base is and predictably how much it's going to decrease soon, CCP should be focusing on encouraging players to enjoy their game time and play how they want, not fretting over how hard they just got hit with a nerf hammer. If a person is not a front line fighter and that's not how they want to play but the nerfs come along and make it so their build is no longer viable for mid to long range then why should they have to change? Because some elitist aholes think they sound tough when they say they don't need respecs? Everyone should have a means of playing the role they feel they want to and if the updates are going to take that role away from them again and again EVERY month from now on you'll see the player base drop out pretty fast and the elitists can just play with themselves. |

The thing is, we're talking about two different games. When I say no more respecs, I'm talking about a FPS set in New Eden. When you say SP would be meaningless, you're talking about just another COD/Battlefield clone.
I don't want to play your game. Maybe you don't want to play mine. Fine. We can agree to disagree, but honestly, respecs aren't going to keep players around. Having more content and a better matchmaker will do that.

I completely agree. I'm honestly dieing (metaphorically, the metaphor meaning my want to play is diminishing) waiting for something outside of the fairly bland battlefield aspects we currently have. But being that I'm a fairly new player I don't even have a complete build, and I may have to start a new one. Most of the long term players I know just shrug as they have over double the SP I have and a minimum of 2 fully functioning builds.
If I had some PVE or even some administrative roles outside of the battlefield to keep me busy or give me an alternative way of earning isk and sp that would be fantastic but continuously spawning in with an incomplete build to feed the full protos constantly is pretty boring as far as gameplay goes.
I understand that New Eden is a unique and difficult place, but the FPS market is not unique and full of choices. Seeing as this is currently just another FPS and one that is lacking in mechanics versus the competition, making it easier for players who come from other games to bridge the gap might help out until there is some other viable content. |

I would agree with what you said if it wasn't for the problem of precedent. As soon as CCP buckles about respecs, then there will be an even greater flood here begging for respecs because it's cloudy today. There is no way to go back with this sort of thing.
I think we should already have some PVE or more stuff to do precisely to mitigate the issues that you speak of. Also, I don't deny that a respec would help. The problem is you can't keep watering down the reasons for a new respec and keep the integrity of the game as "something different". Easier access to respecs will water the game down even before it gets the rest of the "new Eden" feel to it.

Jets are new content. Cal scouts are missing content. And the only difference between those two is that you (presumably) care about cal scouts right now and someone else will be stuck with the jet variant he doesn't like later.

You obviously played MD in 1.1 and haven't played 1.2 and still assume its broken.
I believe that this is a game similar to vanilla Arma 2.
You have to want to be a part of the EVE Universe to play DUST.
We all would love a respec.
But there are 2 issues with constant respecs
1. Feedback would be a dying thing as you wouldn't have to try to get the game balanced so your weapons work again.
You would just respec into the gear that is working/OP/Unnerfed.
2. CCP has made it straight and clear that respecs wouldn't be happening ever again.
The Battle AI (I won't say Aura since it supposedly isn't Aura) in her little song and dance for newberries tell them when she goes over skills that SP will never ever be refunded for foolish usage, and to be very careful how they spend it.
Everyone likes respecs my friend, but these "agile elitists" you speak off just know that respecs are one thing CCP is adamant about.
No doubt they skilled into a weapon that wasn't as useful as originally thought.
Everyone probably will, but that should be a lesson to be careful about your skills, and a constant reminder of that lesson.
I feel bad for those with a mil SP wasted in a skill they don't need, but making special accommodations for them that the "ahole elitists" can exploit to go into the crazy OP weapons just doesn't make sense.

I am saving SP for August updates, I recommend that you do the same if you are interested in trying the new items.
The rewards for spending SP like a Drunken Sally allows you to edge up on those who are saving, but savers should benefit for their long term thinking.
Essentially it would add a lot more personality into the game as out of combat choices have real consequences. |

I'm not 100% in agreement with this post however all I know TONS of people (including myself) who would respec if you gave us the option for isk, aur or maybe $10? I hope you realize it's a feature that people would pay real money for and it is a feature that any blockbuster FPS needs to incorporate if you want to keep people playing. |

I think SP should be refunded for specific game mechanics that fill in the gap for missing ones like racial heavy suits, vehicles and when the new AR variants come out instead of full respecs. |

Weeks turn into months. Months turn into years.
I DO want to play the game for years (I think, not so sure anymore).
But if something I use is going to be getting rebalanced month to month, I want the option to spec out of it (respec), so I can continue to enjoy the game, some other way.
Surely, this isn't unreasonable.
Sniper rifles getting a -10% vs. shields is one example. I planned ahead, and thought very carefully about how to place my SP. I put it into sniper rifles. The entire fit was perfectly planned. Gallente Logi Sniper. Good damage. Armor tanking to manage counter-snipers.
What happens literally a WEEK later? The entire god-damned fit gets turned on it's head, with sniper rifles doing less damage to shields, and MORE damage to armor (the very thing I invested in to PROTECT me from sniper fire).
The best part? It came out of FKIN nowhere! Stealth nerf, followed by a half-assed dev blog, "oh btw we just took your balances and flipped them on their head! good luck! fk you! and have fun!"
And you guys want to sit up here with your "respecs will break the game" logic?
Get out of here, padre. You stink of the irrational. |

I see the logic behind people hating respec in certain games, I however fail to see the reasoning in Dust. I know that people with 15 mil sp start to find it rather simple to move into other skill and diversify their character, and that is great. The way I see it is this game needs new blood though, and this game is changing frequently and can be confusing to a new player, why not allow that character to purchase a respec augmentation? hell make it cost aur. Will that new player suddenly dominate in PC at 3 mil sp cause he got a respec? Not a chance and we all know it, what may happen is that player will enjoy the game and stick around and reach PC ready and start progressing the game world.
You can stop returning isk spent on old spec, way of keeping players slightly more careful, they are going to have to buy most likely all new gear so that will add up and make respecs a do if needed thing, not an every 5 min luxury. This is a win win for CCP they can make money on something we know will sell, and players can have more freedom to make a character they enjoy to play. I would be happy to hear honest reasons why respecs would "break" the game, most of what i hear is just that once you have enough sp it does not matter or you should save up and essentially be restarting your character as you go. Face it, the game cannot survive without keeping the young guys playing and moving into PC ready SP areas, if respecs will help them do that I am all for it.
I am not meaning to attack either side of this debate I just really am confused on why so many people are against this being implemented. |

No offence but even though i dont even use a vehicle and dont even want a respec the fact that they are introducing PILOT SUITS specifically for vehicle users makes it perfectly reasonable for them to ask for a respec, until now they have had no suit specifically for it and it isnt a matter of a new type of a particular suit .. it is a whole new suit class altogether specifically designed for vehicle users and seeing as this game is how old ? And how long have vehicles been around ? most ppl would have specced into various suits .. how can you expect ppl to wait around for a year for a suit to be introduced for their class ?? You are basically saying no one should use any SP ever incase they bring something out in the future, do you have any idea how stupid that is ?? You're new,or relatively new. Had you been around longer you would have seen the past requests for respec after respec after respec after respec. New people joining and wanting respec so they could catch up to the vets, vets asking for respec because they wasted their sp and wanted another go at it, people wanting respec after each build, respec after new stuff added and so forth. It gets boring seeing the same old threads over and over again. If you want to spec into a certain suit......GRIND for it! If you don't want to grind.....buy boosters, if you don't want boosters and are not willing to put in the time to get YOURSELF to your required sp total........quit bitching |

This is how real life works, and this is how New Eden works. after all the racial suits come out ONE LAST respec then no more
Wave bye bye to even more new players then ... they get a poor tutorial get stomped by vets straight off the bat, it takes months and months of being stomped for them to even be able to compete and added to all this they either don;t use any sp to try out different roles or classes and are stuck for months using militia gear or bearing in mind they are new players are supposed to fully understand the sp system and what each skill does and plan completely what they are going to do without being able to try out particular skills and are restricted to being told what to do by other ppl thus removing any individuality and because the game is adding updates all the time certain fixes can completely nerf their character making it useless and thus wasting the sp they've specced into a particular role and all this to play 4 maps in 4 game modes ... do you see why this game is failing so badly at attracting new players yet ? I lost 12 friends i got to play this game already ..
Once again too many vets thinking only of themselves rather than others and the game itself ,, why not give everyone below 5m sp free respecs then ?? you wont have to worry about ppl near your lvl changing to OP classes all the time ?? I know full well why people dont like the idea of respecs and its nothing to do with new players its because they are scared of other ppl changing to classes that can kill them if you coudl only respec below 5m sp then you wouldnt have to worry about this and new players can try out skilsl and classes find what works for them and then at 5m sp commit to it |

In 2 years they will bring out x or Y so don't use your SP I honestly have no idea why your so butthurt about someone asking for a respec or is it that your scared ppl will respec and kill you ?? If i'm honest it never bothered me if other ppl respecced i have my own play style and like my own way of doing things anyway and whilst i may accept that the idea of constant respeccing probably would annoy some ppl when we are talking about something like a Pilot suit for vehicle users I think it is completely justified You're new,or relatively new. If you don't want to grind.....buy boosters, if you don't want boosters and are not willing to put in the time to get YOURSELF to your required sp total........quit bitching
1.Read my post b4 this 1 2.I started playing a year ago and went afk for a year to gain sp .. that's how pointless your post is and this game is LOL when your better off not playing for a year and turning on passive SP than you are joining the game and playing for 2 months then there's a serious flaw in the game it'll take me 6 months of grinding to get this character upto the sp of my main even using boosters which i never even played .. come on you have to admit that's ridiculous 3.I still disagree with you and having played mmo's for over a decade respecs/skill reallocation has never been an issue on any MMO since i met players on this game and the reason ppl make so many respec requests is that it's stupid that they dont have them at a cost of ISK or AURUM there isn;t a single MMO that doesnt; allow an optional respec and if you actually know of one let me know .. Vets killing the game since BETA nice job :) |

People who want respecs (all concerns on respecs aside.....)
We have like 5 threads a day on this topic. There really is no need for any other threads. Really. You are not saying anything new..... YOU starting a thread isn't going to push CCP over the end on the respecs.
Thanks. No, really. Thank-you. Thank-you very much for beating down my already completely, ridiculuously, disturbingly, inhumanly low expectations for common sense in my fellow man.
Just, um, i don't know, revive an old thread with a +1?? It's not like they are hard to find.... |

the honest truth is every one should recieve a new respec when all the racial frames come out.. then after that if someone wants a respec it should cost 100 million isk or 5 dollars and this price should double after each respec end of story but this should not go into effect until the last racial frame is added |

Captain Wontubulous wrote:Buster Friently wrote:Captain Wontubulous wrote:Respecs should practically be a purchasable commodity in this game with how the updates roll out. Seeing as this is currently just another FPS and one that is lacking in mechanics versus the competition, making it easier for players who come from other games to bridge the gap might help out until there is some other viable content.
so, you'd play an fps more if you could fight fake people? is that it?
i don't understand. |

My god, people seriously. CCP clearly stated long ago that there will be no more respecs. They are not giving it to you anymore unless something catastrophic happens with their server. Even Eve Online players, CCP's primary source of income, have only seen a single respec in their entire ten-year history. If CCP won't give respecs to them, then surely you can't expect Dust players to be any different.
And no, Eve's neural remaps don't count because SP is technically not being moved around. |

Craig Zeltner wrote:I see the logic behind people hating respec in certain games, I however fail to see the reasoning in Dust.
I am not meaning to attack either side of this debate I just really am confused on why so many people are against this being implemented.
because this game will turn into the same terrible flavor of the month as any other game if they give us respecs. the eve universe doesn't work that way. you adapt, you reevaluate, you rearm. you don't respec. |
