first a history lesson -
laser rifle used to fry people bacon, in 2 seconds( if that ) it could deal over 1000 damage.
as one would expect this weapon was nerfed, sad part is their was a mathmatical problem with the damage calculation which was also fixed at the same time as every weapon in the game had their range reduced.
so in the course of a single nerf the laser rifle lost 60% of it's damage and about 25% of it's range.
as one would suspect this caused the laser rifle to more or less become useless over night, I suspect this weapon to get buffed in teh coming months but I have no idea when.
there are plenty of viable weapons in the game atm, laser rifle will likely be a good weapon eventually but atm I would spec else where. |

Don't forget it got heat build up escalated ridiculously while having the feedback damage tripled to quintupled depending on version. So range down, base damage down, heat management down (meaning less damage boost from a continuous ray). Also terrible iron sights added, tracking speed reduced and until this latest patch the Blue Fog of Can't See **** Captain.

I'm using LR not because I was hoping it would be an awesome choice, but purely because its Dust's biggest insult atm to be killed by one.
Either way this game has a lot to be worked on, at the rate were seeing, its guuna be a long long long ride home. CCP are a 2 steps forward 1 step back company, which is the most annoying part, the best part of 1.2 is a fix to perfromance in "full release" content. They seem to run tests in tame atmospheres, with little understanding of FPS/PVP mentality.
As I said though, I like the game, I'll continue trying to like it. I have a lot more patience than most gamers to, come from the land of 3-4 hour mmorpg boss raids.
well IMO dust was only full released, because they had to do it eventually.
**** poor reason to release a game but when you plan to update frequently for over 10 years, it's likely not as much of a concern to them |
