I'd just really like to use the trigger as a trigger.
Maybe add a check box to just swap them and it will be useable with any future button layouts.
But really, we should just be able to program our own eventually, yea :)? |

I have made two in the past, each time they do an update and don't address it I repost about it. My hope is they include it in one of the rapid fire patches.
I mean, this game would become so much more enjoyable for everyone if they could interface with it as they wished. I am giving up on player programmable buttons.. and figure if they just let you invert R1/L1 with R2/L2 it would be easy, and double the amount of preset configs they currently have in one fell swoop.
Since so many people ask for it, it would be awesome to, just one time, see a dev comment in one.

Way ahead of you.. I, for the first time ever, have favorited a thread just for that purpose. |

There's been lots of custom control threads, they get replied to occasionally with a, "We know you want it, and we'll get to it eventually..."
It seems to be a priority on the same level as PvE. Which is to say, it seems like it's a "Maybe next year?" sort of thing. |

I understand that completely customizable controls would probably take a lot of time and effort and would be better suited for down the road, but the shoulder swapping? You would think that wouldn't be too complicated or difficult to add. |

I'll pay for this feature. While we wait for everything else to get worked out ( i have faith that it eventually will) FTLOG can we please have the controls feel comfortable for those that prefer this option?
Do we have to cover the cost of a dev's time to get this done? How much? Ill gladly send money if I knew it was going for this and not...changing how the female clones walk in the warbarge!!! Really?? |

Actually, completely customizable controls is stupid-easy. There's a reason you've been able to alter your controls in shooters since the days of the shareware shooters like Doom 1: it's stupid-easy basic programming.
It's easy to arrange custom controls in console games with a gameshark/codebreaker type thing to. You don't even have direct access to the code, and you customize the controls with a few lines in codebreaker.
It's basic basic basic stuff. The only reason we don't have it is because they haven't done it. A code-monkey could do it in a day.

I had no idea how simple it really was, even though i figured it couldn't be too hard. After my post, in frustration, I dug out my old Gioteck HF-1 that has the switch to flip the triggers as well as the xbox style stick layout (I was an xbox player before switching to ps3). The input lag is horrible when its wireless but wired it does good and having those triggers in the right place is awesome. |

Yay! +1. I like using the controller's R2 trigger as my trigger... Not sure why companies default to R1 as the trigger when that's a shoulder... |

I hope this happens soon. I already preferred the xbox controller because my hands fit awkwardly around the dualshock, and now I'm having to use the shoulder button to shoot instead of the trigger. I have to contort my hands into such an awkward position that during heated cqc I'm constantly pressing in the right stick without even realizing it. I changed my control scheme so I accidentally crouch and dramatically reduce my movement speed all the time instead of swinging the butt of my gun when I really need to be shooting. At least with the crouching I can still shoot and it's fairly easy to fix once I realize what's happened. |
