Hit detection on missiles is much better and I see alot more players flying dropships, but they're still a joke in regards HP and WP's. Got two-shotted by a DAU Assault Forge gun before I could react, and Logistic-class Dropships still do not reward pilots with any wp's for spawns. This needs to be addressed. Only constructive critcism here, not trying to rage at CCP, I know it's tough.
Apart from addressing the issues, how is everyone finding Dropships so far? |

I have not had enough 1.2 flight time to give good statistical feedback but for the 2 or 3 skirmishes that I flew the Gorgon in this morning it felt...heavier and a bit more resilient. Took several hits from swarms while in armor and survived ( not enough testing to say this is due to 1.2).
Agree that ccp need to do something about the viability of pilots as a role (sp & WP gain) but survivability of the. Dropship is job one. |

I'm fairly certain they'll be more directly addressed come next point release, as we'll be getting the pilot suits then. Did you notice the tab for pilot suits in the market? |

my dropship is doing perfectly fine since my re-spec. It has caterpillar tracks and a nice Large Gun for DPS. it work perfectly fine. as a decent tank and is able to provide a reasonable amount of DPS.
the only weird thing is that it seam to have lost his ability to fly.. But I am quite happy of the result. |

20% HP decrease for all dropship models should make them more balanced. |

By the way, this problem is also in effect with other particle based weapons, other vehicles and even dropsuits. You can test this with a small blaster on a heavy suit, the hit indicators will not indicate the direction of the enemy but rather the location of where the hit occurred.
I even know how this slipped through QA: If you are standing still and you are getting hit straight on, such as in a typical QA scenario, the hit will occur on the side of your dropsuit/vehicle that is in the direction of the enemy. As such the hit indicator will not appear to malfunction in this case. If you get hit while moving the indicator will not work however. |

In a way I can see this as "Working as intended" in that the hit indicator is accurately reflecting the area of the ship that was struck.
If the FG hit the nose of the ship from underneath that part of the shield will be affected and be able to report. Now the FG may have been anywhere on the map and been able to hit the nose of a flying dropship , so the hit indicator is basically useless for any large hitbox and doubly so if it can be hit from undeneath.
It's not a big issue for the small infantry hitbox which is on the ground level. It's basicaly a sphere so the area struck is the also the direction the shot came from. Any large vehicle will have a more rectangular hitbox which means you can aim at a portion that is not the nearest and thus spoof your location.
I see it as a fundamental problem that hit detection is being confused with enemy location detection. It may be true 90% of the time for infantry, but it's not even close for dropships.
That means the dropship will need a new enemy threat location detection mechanism. I've already suggested lighting up any charging/chaarged FG on the radar map. |

It doesn't indicate where on the hull of the vehicle or dropsuit the impact was, it indicates the global position of the impact relative to your current position. From my few games today I got the impression that this even happens with falling damage.
If you drop down any height while moving to the right the damage indicator will move to your left, because that's the location where you took the damage. You can even quickly zig-zag and make the indicator move from left to right if you're so inclined. |
