I understand that console gamers are not familiar with tweaking their games and probably don't even know what V-sync is but is texture and effects quality really that complicated to understand?

I know there are a few console games that let you turn off AA and maybe turn the particles down, that's it. I'll see when I get into Dust.

I found this a little disturbing as well. The game should always be optimal speed and framerate. The idea you might need to lower your settings to be competitive or have the best performance shouldn't be coming up in a console title. |

Well CCP decided to go with unreal 3 instead of 4 so there are more limitations but more importantly it takes developers years to properly understand a console and fully optimize it. It's why games released at the end of a consoles life are far and way better looking than lose released in its initial years. Look at GTA IV vs GTA V. |

Would love to see this game on the proto Carbon engine, on the PS4, with PhysX style particle mapping. I know mentioning PS2 is the devil around here, but massive firefights at night with air, tanks, and infantry pounding the crap out of eachother is nothing short of epic. You need a solid PC to run it on ultra, but with individually rendered sparks and shrapnel from EACH rocket, shell, or even bullet hit is a fireworks show that still awes me.
May the powers that be eventually steer 514 towards that level of eyecandy. |
