So depending on whether it suits you to construe it as such armour either doesn't have shields for practical purposes unless you're trying to pin the fact that they do as a 'benefit' of armour tanking.

So the solution to armour tanking is to shield tank? Yeah, in the other thread he instantly fell back on shields being the main advantage of armour.
Is also disregarding the possibility of plates on a shield tanker. Yes, armour suits can fit shields, likewise shields can fit armour.
Overlooking that while Flux can make shield-tanks practically dead, Locus can make armour-tanks actually dead (they also have less mobility to evade). |

From what i understand the Gallente needs a bonus to avoid the speed penalty or reduce it on armor plates, but because of how they programed the suits, the penalty is a blanket effect on all of them. It's not a simple fix, and I won't expect this fix anytime soon. So until that day, shield tank >>>> armor tank. There's nothing CCP will do about it cuz they are balancing their game for items and fixes coming in 2015. The fact that they haven't changed it yet, shows this. It's not a priority. Everything on their road map has taken a back seat to make the core gameplay better. - Racial suits - Racial weapons - Racial vehicles - Race specific bonuses ^ none of these I expect anytime soon. You might see a suit here or there, but don't hold your breath. Awesome. One and a half of the four races are now going to be in the "useless" category until they decide to get off their asses and make those things. How nice. That's just the EVE tradition. Who knows, might take less than half a decade this time? |
