from the CCP 'roadmap': Improving overall gear balancing so there is no "best" choice and there are tactical choices to make
to me this is the most interesting thing mentioned. And I think if done right make the RPG part of the game actually matter. it is part of the unique selling point of this game.
What we have now for example for infantry the current situation (in general) is to max hp and max dps - hence the rise of the logi assaults etc.
Are you able to share anything/ flesh out what CCPs thoughts are here? Are they going to review stacking bonuses for example? Or go in another direction?
P.s any news on the gun rig system which was supposed to be implemented by now?

Stacking penalties won't change I'll bet 1 million ISK there
Armor hopefully is on the needs fixed list. |

Stacking penalties won't change I'll bet 1 million ISK there Armor hopefully is on the needs fixed list.
Shield tanking or Armour tanking doesnt fix the problem either

Unfortunately there isn't much more we can share at this time, you're essentially asking us to break NDA because while we know of the balancing changes that will be coming out in 1.3 (and the ones they're working on for 1.4), CCP needs to be the ones to announce those, not the CPM.
However, they are preparing a dev blog though that will cover the general direction of all the dropsuit balancing efforts, this should shed some light on the mindset behind the overhaul. |

I would also like to note a few things.
One being which CCP base point of balance is from End Game then on down.
CCP likes using the wait an see approach, nerfing something based on kneejerk is something they're not prone to doing unless it is absolutely obvious its broken.
Not all balancing means to the end is ideal and CCP would often take the odd road to get something balanced to it takes some time in order to get a new balance pass out on a certain item. Change way too much and well things become more apparent or less apparent. |
