So I have had this idea for a game mode for a while now but have never taken the time to type it all out and see if the community accepted my idea or not. I have expanded on my idea here and added some cool features I think players will enjoy if this gets accepted. Further more I believe bases should feel like bases with the new faction buildings coming to Dust CCP is finally starting their path to great structures in Dust 514. So here is my idea be aware this is a long post but I hope you enjoy reading it please read through the entire post.
Game Mode: Land Grab Two teams start off with two large bases surrounded by large shields. The objective of each team is to infiltrate multiple smaller bases on the field with no shield bubbles protecting them. These bases will offer supply depos, installations, Clone reanimation units, and the bases override and hack panel.
Hack Panel Each teams goal is to secure the room with the hack panel inside and use the hack panel to take control of the base. In order to capture the hack panel it'll take a minute to hack, after it's hacked your team will automatically take control of the base. After the hack panel is hacked the base will automatically come online and activates it's null cannons firing missiles at the enemy teams main base hitting it's shields, you can see why these bases are valuable. They offer supply depos, spawning points, protection, and a way to break the other teams shield. Even further after a base is hacked it'll transfer energy to your main base reinforcing it's shield and capacitor this increases your shields resistance but does not repair your shield or increase your shield amount.
Main bases I don't want bases to just be bases I would like to see something truly original making these feel like structures someone would actually want to own and defend.
*Each base is surrounded by a large bubble that can not be shot through from the inside or outside. *Air lift pads for safely calling in air vehicles air pads give a slight boost to thrust increasing their speed for a few seconds after take off. *Ground pads for safely calling in ground vehicles and giving them a slight boost to thrust increasing their speed for a few seconds after driving. *Opting out panels for allowing players to quit the battle and receive pay and skill points for the time and war points they earned in the battle. *Insurance panel for buying insurance insurance can not be stacked but can be upgraded. *Blaster installations inside the the main base so if shields go down close range blasters can mop up enemy infantry. *Railgun installations outside the main base to hit far targets approaching the base. *Supply depos at spawning points and around the main base so mercenaries can change suits and collect ammo. *Scanner beacons for scanning enemies inside the base (doesn't reach far outside the bases bubble shield) can be hacked or destroyed by the enemy after shields are down. *Warp gates were discussed by CCP to introduce the ability to jump mercenaries to districts I approve of this but want a version just for this game mode. The ability to jump mercenaries from their main base to a smaller base each jump cost capacitor. 20% capacitor cost to bases total capacitor per jump. *Each base has internal space so after a bases shield is broken mercenaries can retreat inside their base where their hack panel is located.
Buildings panel Building things will be possible this is done by spending war points however this doesn't effect your total pay out at the end of battle it simply uses gained war points to build or upgrade structures inside the base. You will be able to build a host of things at each base this can only be done by being a squad leader. Squad leaders will be able to spend squad points to upgrade or build structures inside the base.
Buildings and upgrades list (war point cost will be decided by CCP)
*scanner beacons scans enemies *installations that attack enemies *supply depos *capacitor amount can be upgraded to hold more capacitor *capacitor recharge can be upgraded to recharge capacitor faster *shield resistance can be upgraded to add more shield resistance *warp gate capacitor cost can be upgraded to make each warp cost less capacitor
Winning If one side owns enough bases the enemy teams shields will start to fail this will allow the winning team to infiltrate the enemy teams main base and override the hack panel shutting down their base and winning the game.
Collecting pay
Pay out will be determined by active time on the field and how many war points you have collected. Mercenaries might not be able to stick around for an entire battle so at each main base their will be a panel for opting out of the game and collecting pay and skill points. The team who wins the battle get a 25% increase in salvage and isk.
Insurance can be bought for a fee at each of the main bases and supplied by the NPC corporation staging the attack. Players who are going to stick around for the entire battle will be able to insure their prototype gear and expensive vehicles.
Example: Basic insurance : 1,000,000 mill 2% pay out for each suit and vehicle lost on the battle field. Pay out received at the end of the game or when opting out. Platinum insurance 7,500,000 mill 10% pay out for each suit and vehicle lost on the battle field. Pay out received at the end of the game when opting out. |

Difficulties
In order to make this work you are going to need a higher player count in each battle at least 32 v 32 and much larger maps. However larger maps will allow for fighters and dropships to operate more efficienlt on these maps and allow for much wanted large scale warfare. This would be great for organized squads who work together to win. CCP also will need to work on the disconnect problem no one wants to disconnect right before they get their pay from 30 minutes spent in game and 9,000 earned war points. Another issue would be base camping this can be beat by making war points more valuable it can also be dealt with by making the player have to move while spawned if he goes afk for 5 minutes he will be kicked if he does not spawn into battle for a set amount of time he will be kicked. Warnings can stack up and if this player receives warnings multiple times he will be kicked.

+1 good idea really....
I think domination style maps like MAG are also a good idea with a truly attacking and defending team as well.
You could do that with your game style suggestion as well though too. Have one team control the main base and the other team want to have it. Either way i think it would be fun
Would have to be larger team numbers then we currently have though. at least 36x36 if not more. |

When you loose multiple tanks you get higher pay outs same with proto gear trust me loose 5 proto suits and get 0 war points you'll probably make 400 - 500k isk. Even more so with tanks. |

you could also, use the infinite map idea CCP has and make this a game mode for it.
essentially, the skirmish maps we use now in the red zone are other maps. we could just combine two different skrmish maps. this should be a 32 v32 game type though. |
