Hacking anything, be it a node canon, installation turret, supply depot, or even another player's LAV should cost ISK.
I propose that the total amount of ISK spent to hack something should equate to 100% of the player's WP.
The ISK put in from these hacks will further be distributed equally amongst the winning team, but at a 20% deduction to the original amount. For example, if one-million ISK is pooled in from people hacking, the winning team will receive eight hundred-thousand divided up amongst its members.
If at any moment a player's ISK fund is running low, then he or she will have incentive to sell off unused equipment via the item exchange for when it is released. This idea also should affect the need for corps to participate in PC.
With that said, here is a little scenario:
First TestDummy: Hacking this node canon is going to cost me 150,000 ISK. Should I pay the amount or should Blueberry over there do it.
Blueberry: You do it.
First TestDummy: Alright, I got this.
-2 Minutes Later-
First TestDummy: Damn, the reds capped my objective. I'm low on ISK. I'll let someone else take it.
-The Match Ends With First TestDummy's Team's Loss-
First TestDummy: Oh well, I better sell off this stock of 1,000 Prometheuses.
-The Next Day-
First TestDummy: Nothing sold! Better gear up for PC then.
MOST PRO IDEA EVER, right?

How is this even a good idea? No, what we really need to do is reward counter-hacking, not make hacking itself detrimental. |

I'd take this concept a step further, and have killing people cost ISK:
- Want to kill a proto suit? Well, you better have ~150k to spare.
- Want to destroy a well fit HAV? Well, you better be prepared to have your wallet ravaged like the HAV player did.
- Have an orbital? Well, you better have money burning a hole in your pocket.
Why stop there? Make every bullet/sci-fi projectile cost ISK as well. That way, DUST players will have incentive to improve their aim. It may even reduce the AR spam. Plus, Heavies are in need of some love, as they are OP, and this proposal will be a reasonable nerf.
Why not go even further? Make every step a player takes cost isk. We all know how OP scouts are ATM, so this is a step in the right direction. Assault suits will also become less OP. Plus, this benefits heavies, and balances out the bullet cost.
Overall, I love this concept, and I fully support this thread. +1 |

I'm not sure what to think of this idea. I'm vacillating between "this is an obvious troll, looking to stir up a rukus" and "here is someone that has an idea, but for whatever cosmic reason, doesn't recognize it as being incredibly stupid"
I'm sorry. Even when I don't agree with an idea I usually give the OP some credit for bringing it up and trying to get ideas out there, or for at least trying to present it well. I can't do that here.....
What is the point of this? To generate additional ISK for the rewards? It's utterly ridiculous to 'charge' someone for hacking an installation.... not only does it provide negative incentive for players to risk life and limb to hack objectives, but it's conceptually... just.... stupid.
Let me run my scenario for you:
-Matticus runs, shotgun in hand, behind enemy lines to the far red objective. -Two enemies guarding the objective are slain. -Matticus dies to enemy #3 but spawns in close to the objective using his previously dropped spawn uplink. (note here that Matticus has now 'spent' the cost for his destroyed suit, weapons and modules) -Matticus kills enemy #3 and proceeds to objective -Matticus says "WTF?!?!" and pulls out his ISK credit card to initiate the transaction so that he can have the 'priveledge' to hack this beautiful objective....

OPs proposal sounds like he wants to create some isk deficit for everyone. He brings up a point that this gives an incentive for corps to participate more in PC and that it could make the item transfer market thing much more viable, but other than these two things, I don't see anymore benefits.
OP what's your main objective before I dismiss you as a troll. |
