So I'm not all that much of a rookie I thinking, have a grand total of 11 M sp across two toons...
However when Uprising hit and I got my hands of that shiny new Amarr Assault Suit and Scrambler Rifle I switched from my pre-Uprising Shield Tanked Assault to Armour Tanking.
Now while I have had more success than ever armour tanking I want to make a Caldari toon for the corp however I'm having extreme trouble getting back into Shield Tanking and using Assault Rifles...which are junk by the way.... so now I'm here looking for tips from the big boys on how to properly shield tank.
What Modules Should I be using, where should I orient myself on the battlefield, grenade slot choices, etc fire away for I can put some of the suggestions into practice.

I armour tank (Heavy over 900 armour at proto level)
But i used to shield thank. Max out them shield skills, Shield extenders to five, then put a bunch of them on. Also in low slots the shield things that make the delay shorter are really nice. |

Issue I find is that it seems like the shields drop way to fast for their own good even when not being fired on by an SCR. When Im Armoured up it seems like nothing really hurts me all that much unless that red dot commits fully to killing me. |

scramblers get a bonus damage to shields. i just like running 5 complex shield extenders and 4 complex armor plates on my proto logi.
shield tanking is great for when you are using cover and in CQC. shields take less damage from explosives then armor. if you want to focus your high slots on shields, then go mostly with the enhancers but place a regen on it so that it only takes a matter of secounds to recharge. |

Yeah I know this stuff and I cant say I'm impressed with your Proto logi build come on dude exploiting it to do roles it was never designed to do is just tacky.
However thanks or the tip about cover, jumping in behind that really works of shield whereas with armour I can be mobile cover. |

Stack complex shield extenders, mostly. Getting complex shield extenders will immediately make a shield tank viable. |
