what's worth it, Gallente scout suit level 3 or sniper rifle rapid reload level 3? |

inb4 lose the scout suit.
Look at the ADV suit slot layout. If it offers you anything you think you can use (damage mods, kinetics), go for it. Otherwise, I'd go for the sniper rifle investment. |

Doesn't the advanced suit offer a 2nd high you could use for a damage mod? If not.. meh. |

Not sure why anybody would use a scout suit to snipe in this build..... but...... The obvious choice seems to go into ADV suits. More CPU/PG and more slots. Rapid Reload I would argue is almost pointless as a sniper due to the fact that if you're playing your role correctly you shouldn't find yourself in CQC 1v1 with another player where reload speed will matter. Sure, you might be able to reload to get an extra shot a little bit faster, but compared to the advantages of more slots and fitting capability this seems like a no brainer. |

It all depends on how well you hide. assault snipers are easier to spot! Yea, I'll put a damage mod. then. |

RR is for tactical sniper rifles. |

Thankyou. I had the tactical variants in mind when writing the post.
@Niuvo: I disagree, I don't find there's any difference in spotting a scout, assault, or heavy frame sniper. I find that the chevron lights up enemy positions equally for all snipers when I'm ADS, but this may just be my experiences. |

Angels, do you have high scan strength? I've been trying to figure out how much dampers and such affect this or if it's really only the map scanner thingy that it affects. Or if you train the skill etc you will actually have an easier time seeing the chevron far away? |

Nah I don't mate, just the standard. I played a scout sniper last build with maxed out profile dampening and still got spotted just as frequently. I believe there was an announcement post regarding cloaking, the active scanner and scan profiles just prior to the release of uprising, in which CCP Wolfman confirmed that profile scanning and profile signature don't affect the ease at which the red chevron pops up. According to the post, these skills & bonuses only affect the effectiveness of the mini map. Sorry I don't have a link to it, but the search function may yield some results if you're after it from the horses mouth. |

Yeah that's sorta what I figured it working like, what makes me curious though is sometimes I spot other people that are like hiding all behind a mountain or similar but still see the chevron (or HAV icon) even though there's no squad mate there to spot them or similar, figured that may have had something to do with the signature radius etc.

I have to say that i'm not really convinced. I admit I don't have any dev posts etc to back me up, however purely anecdotal evidence.
I trialled a assault suit for sniping (more cpu thus better damage mods etc) with profile dampers, and I seem to get spotted and counter sniped 90% of the time roughly. My scout suit fitting, unless I am incredibly persistent in one location or do something stupid, tends to go almost unnoticed.
Also, I have spotted other enemy snipers with scout suits who had no chevron or health bars (etc) pop up when targeted. This has not happened with enemy assault snipers et al.
I would love to get a confirmation from a dev regardless. |

Well just spec into damper modules and use two or three of them if possible on anything but a scout suit. Also do not go for obvious sniper points because those are checked first by other snipers and trough the scope the dampers do not work. |

Yeah I remember somebody else bringing this up... and I've often had my scope aimed directly at someone running and not had their chevron/health bars pop up. I think I recall someone mentioning it was a bug, though that's a pretty vague memory so I wouldn't take it as gospel |
