So your "mercs will sell at a loss" theory is invalid. Where do you think the blueprints come from? You can't "buyout" the NPC's and there's an infinite amount. Plus, once their "bought out" where do you get more from when that supply is gone? Eventually we'd run out of guns and that would just suck.

If you want a player run economy then who is going to supply us with gear? Salvage? Yeah right.
@schalac: you keep saying stop apologizing but where am I apologizing for anything? Im just telling you to learn about supply and demand and what happens when there is no supply and a high demand. And if we allow eve players to put isk into dust's economy then look up what happens when you suddenly pump a massive amount of currency into an economy... Imagine winning a billion dollars in the lottery and distributing it to everyone in America. A loaf of bread would suddenly cost thousands ofddollars and the economy would eventually collapse. |

More than that, why not be able to transfer FULL FITS from Merc to Merc? If CCP is about to implement an ISK transfer system than it kinda goes without saying that item exchange (for ISK...economy stuff...) would follow. That is all. Eriknaught out. END TRANSMISSION. A full player-controlled market has been confirmed as a future feature since the beginning. Of course player trading would be part of that. |

Also that billion already came from the economy so...yeah. Maybe you are the one that needs to take an economics class.

Altina McAlterson wrote:You made some good points there. Just a couple things:
It's never just a database. It's an extremely large, but more importantly vital, database. What would happen to it if someone left out a comma on line 9,846 when they were coding the UI? Changing the damage value for a weapon might be a simple thing, but adding something new never is. As long as you have a backup incase something goes horribly wrong. CCP has been doing this for a long time though so I have faith that they won't wipe my PC again.
Altina McAlterson wrote: True, but then they'd have to spend time making the separate market and then go back and make the single market (if that's the ultimate plan, anyway) and that cost money and slows production. Not to mention I'm sure CCP wants to get those EVE players buying AUR to sell the AUR gear back to the mercs for ISK. That's a huge part of this whole thing I think a lot of people miss.
We would have to buy lots and lots of gear for it to be worth it for EVE players to buy AUR.
Altina McAlterson wrote: Maybe. But most players don't really have all that much officer gear plus a few vehicles here and there so player trading could probably cover that. And salvage is building up but it's going to be so worthless it won't matter if it goes a little longer or not.
Maybe, maybe not. How much gear you think those guys in the top 100 on the leaderboards got that they never use. Power players have a pretty decent stockpile by now.
Altina McAlterson wrote:Fact is they can't really put in a temporary market because it wastes too much time and money. Maybe they can figure out a way to do it and keep them separate while still having the same UI be linked between them. Who knows, but as time goes on I'm getting less and less optimistic about it being up and running in the near future.
That seems to be the sentiment running through the game right now.

@Shalac I meant just a general disruption of EVE. Implementing the market is so much more than just a database and if they screw up EVE online is out of commission until it's fixed. That was my point.
We do buy a lot of gear. Or at least we would if there were people actually playing DUST. The whole point of this is to have a way to convert real money to ISK without having to use PLEX, since it's a bit expensive for a lot of people and more importantly is only the one item to sell. With AUR you could buy up a bunch of gear and sell it here and there over time waiting for good prices and use it as you needed it. That's just my theory anyway. But don't underestimate the amount of items that are used up over the course of a day in this game.
And as for the markets getting flooded with gear driving prices down I don't see what the problem is? Hold on to it until the prices stabilize and then sell it...that's how markets work. Luckily due to the simplicity (relatively speaking) of EVE's economy supply and demand is all you'll ever need. |

I kinda feel they go hand-in-hand. You'll always have a "Regular Market" along with a "Black Market." |
