I see a lot of you new players making tactical errors with your HAV's and it usually cost you guys, sometimes it will even give you the belief tanking isnt profitable I'll give you some expert advice to change that.
-Pretty much never drop your tank in the beginning of the battlefield, unless your going to take out the surrounding turrets and put it away. (Your enemy could be vicious AV players who will tear your tank apart at the begging of the match as soon as its spotted)
-If possible always stay in contact with your team, since this is vital intel to keep you well educated of whats going on.
-Know your enemy, go on the battlefield and fight the enemy see if they always use, weapons like, Forge Guns, Advanced or Proto Swarms/AV nades, ect (Plasma cannons area joke, unless the entire enemy team is after you) And if they do dont put out your HAV unless your ground infantry can influence them to change into assaults.
-Don't roll into enemy territory by yourself unless its a surprise hit and run. (Sometimes you can help infantry rip through heavy enemy defenses or offenses by attacking them from behind but this is risky.)
-WP are secondary dont risk your expensive HAV to the point where its about to be destroyed just to get some extra points
-Before spawning an HAV see where everything is on you Tac map, and if a hostile tank is spotted that you can take on (look at kill feed to see what type it is and what weapons its using.)
-Dont drop your tank off in the middle of a firefight, go away from everybody up on a hill or your main spawn but defend the area from hostiles who might want to hijack it.
-Sometimes guys will shoot at you with AR just to lure you in so they can AV spam you.
-If a LAV is driving directly at you its either, a noob who's going to kamikaze you or an AV'er who's going to surprise you and sometimes its a guy who thinks its possible to destroy you with the small turrets. (watch out for XT-Turrets)
- Always be on the move, this is so you can avoid anti av teams or orbitals
- If you see both teams charging at each other in huge lines join in because it looks cool.
- When sniping have a get away plan in case of orbitals, uneven terrain also works since you can avoid from most of the strike.
- Your team will actually need to support you and must be equal to or better then the enemy team.
I might be missing a few things so add your thoughts, i hope this helped you.

Firstly there is some good advice hear from the op but id say not dropping your tank at the start is a huge tacticle error . I always assert vehicle domminance at the start and get into positions that let me cover at least one objective and the enimy ground and mcc spawns so any vehicle that lands or trys to is toast. |

I see what you're saying smash the enemy at the start, but i know from my experience that's a huge gamble. Usually i keep an eye on the kill feed to see what type of weapons the enemy is using before i put my HAV out. Then again everyone might just be assault at the start but from what i know the murder taxis have changed that a little. |

I like to dash past the side of the map destroying turrets, then go E and kill all turrets and reds who have fallen behind. It's risky but people don't use swarm at the start of the game because they're not likely to gamble on enemy calling in vehicles. |

I have ovet 13mill sp in tanks so if I dont call it in at the start I risk another tank landing first and getti g in to position to destoy me. With the new recall fearure theres no excuse for not starti g in your tank. Happy Hunting |

It's much easier to blow up an hostile tank while the RDV is dropping it than once the pilot has actually gotten I it. Course that goes both ways as well. That and out of my tank I'm just a MLT fit noob. Otherwise, very agreeable list. |

Yep bur I prefer to get my first shot off just as it his the ground as because thats just enough time fir the driver to get in and not enough time for them to react. Any tank + driver =200 wp or if you have the squad leader put priority on your tank then Any tank+ driver =240 wp if the tank happens ro have passenfers then tour in for a wp bonanza.
But as I said earlyer ger your tank into position firsr and deny any vehicle acces beiond their red zone. Keeping another tank at bay is just as usefull as killing them and more infuriating for the suppresed tanker.
Also if your a shield tanker dont be afraid of tactical withdrawals youll spend allot of rime driving backwards for reps so get good at reversing and memorising your escape routes . this will allow you to keep firing on the enimy as you reverse to rep up.
Now if you want some good advice regarding tanking see void echos guid that or any tank thread by the seasond tankers. (Not dissing this thread just sperading the tank love) any one who is intarested in shield tanking just message me in game with your query and ill get back to you .
Happy hunting. |

Im not the most experienced ad others bt i have been tanking for awhile and i agree with starting off aggressive with bringing your tank in off bat...and having an escape route also pertains to frontline takers remimber where you come in from so your retreat will be more successful..survivability is a first priority for a tanker in my eyes |

I find that the best way to make isk tanking is to fill your tank with gunners to counter Avers. If you fit stabilized blasters that give your small turrets decent range you can be very effective on the field but it really leaves you open to attack from other tanks. Anti tank fits are probably the biggest wastes oh time and money. Fitting a large cannon or missile turret is great initially but once the large turrets other tank(s) and supply depots are destroyed recall that tank. The enemy team by now has become aware of your presence put those blaster turrets on and let them come to their death. |

Don't you need to be a multimillionaire to be a successful tanker? |
