forcefield generator.
this is a heavy device carried by heavys only in the heavy weapon slot
this device immobilizes the heavy but projects an impenetrable wall in an ark in the direction the player points.
there are many situations where this type of device could be invaluable such as protecting points or assaulting them
how it works is:
it has to charge up to be used and overheats once it sustains enough damage.(different charge levels would be available through different models of forcefield generator offering increased size of effect but with decreased effectiveness and vice versa) once at full charge the player simply releases and the field pops up. due to the forces applied to the forcefield by weapons fire etc the player is immobilized so as not to be forced back by the force. the player can however react to the changing battlefield by adjusting his aim and the field follows.
different versions would offer different effects and durations to allow for player preferences such as:
defence:
strong, immobile,large capacity charge (possible strategic point defence)
weak,immobile, fast charging, fast cooling, low charge (advancing on heavily fortified positions)
strong, immobile,1 direction defence, large charge capacity (counter sniper cover and AV protection)
weaponised:
charged burst, forcefield focused into a single charged shot capable of blasting a cone in front of it doing strong kinetic damage over a short range.
this could be a great squad tool.
