Perhaps at most once every five or ten minutes, a 25 point bonus if you've been hit by a sniper rifle, but manage to get to cover and survive for X amount of time. Even better is if a sniper round even passes near you, the timer starts.
The whole sniper/prey thing is really a non intereactive game. In comparison with two guys shooting assault rifles at each other, they both do something and there is a result possible for either party. With the sniper, only he is going to get a result at best - you can't get anything.
I'm predicting folks who, although they accept getting two rewards for repairing or nano injecting (1st reward: team mates live for longer or continue fighting, 2nd reward: war points) or getting two rewards for taking objectives (1st reward: closer to winning the match, 2nd reward: war points), and so on, they are still going to say that 'surviving the sniper is it's own reward'. Well, I'll flip a coin and tails, you give me $50, heads you give me nothing - well, heads 'is it's own reward', so surely that deal is rewarding? Well no, really it's not worth facing the risk, is it? |

Of course it doesn't make sense when you ignore the core problem - that the sniper and target have an interaction which is one way only.
Hey, if you would get excited about a gun combat where the other guy can shoot you for 50 points, but even if you killed him you got nothing, good for you! That's how much sense you are making. It's okay if you like that, but try not to say anyone doesn't make sense just because they don't share your tastes. They can get points from you, but you can't get points from them?? Yours is an aquired taste, fellow interneter!
Actually I'd almost agree on the LAV and HAV thing getting points too - well, if it weren't possible to switch to an AV fit and have a weapon that locks onto the vehicle (as well as the vehicle often being quite easy to spot and there being cover which blocks it's approach). Is there going to be a anti sniper swarm launcher next patch that just locks onto them?
Let's apply your 'not actively doing something' argument to the gun fight as well
"Oh, see A was doing something while B wasn't!" "Weren't they both shooting at each other with guns?" "No, B wasn't really doing anything...so it's fine!"
If the sniper was shooting (with his rifle) at someone who was 20m away and the other guy is shooting back, is the other guy also 'not doing something'? The whole 'not doing something' line seems to not make sense, when a little pressure is applied.
But hey, maybe 'he can get points from you but you can't from him' is the exciting new future of gaming.
Quote:The reward for surviving a sniper is surviving the sniper. Okay, remove war points from sniping.
The reward for sniping another player is having removed that other player from the field.
Does that seem to work? |
