Okay guys and gals, here is the object of the thread. ------->1. I would like some pointers on where to put SP for an assault class ------------->A.) I have not decided on a dropsuit due to the lack of... --------> 2. I'm looking for these key factors ------------->A.) Damage (obviously) ------------->B.) Speed (wanna get in and out quick) ------------->C. Hacking ------------->D. Shield and Armour
This may sound like an assault logi class, not to sure. I would like to be-able to be a team player on more than one level.
Here are the things I have already spec'ed into... ----->1. Assault rifle ------------>A. Level 5 -------->1A. Proficiency ------------>A. Level 2 That's where most of my points are at, I also have some points in sniper rifle, and shield regeneration but am not 100 percent on what levels.
I am a newer player, approximately one (1) week, and I know the assault class is very much frowned upon for being OP, that is another reason I would like to be skilled in more than one area...
I know this is going to take ALOT of SP, and that's okay. I also know that I am very much into the game and am looking forward to all the learning ahead of me.
I also have a post in the "Corporation Recruitment" section, as I am looking for a corp to join and learn from.
Please feel free to post any opinion and helpful advise you may have for me. TROLLS, I know your out there, but your welcome to comment as well. Just know your stupidity will be ignored. |

Figure out which militia medium suit you like best, and go from there. From what I can tell the militia medium suits are balanced to basically have every slot filled pretty easy (including nades, sidearm, equipment) with the basic version of everything. Leftover CPU means you can use militia versions to save a bit of isk.
For this purpose and for doing anything in general, get 1 skill point only into the following skills
armor upgrades shield upgrades armor repair armor plates shield extension shield regulation nanocircuitry (saves cpu and gives you 2 instead of 1) drop uplink (saves cpu and gives you 2 instead of 1) repair tool (optional, saves a bit of cpu, same performance) dropsuit engineering dropsuit electronics handheld weapon upgrades submachinegun operations grenadier
once you'll decide what suit you want to use, you'll focus more on shield or armor. If you're interested in hacking and speed, that tends to lean slightly more towards minmatar suits, as the minmatar logi suit gets a hacking bonus and minmatar suits have higher base speed than comparable suits of other races (also minmatar assault and minmatar logi both require minmatar medium suit 3). There is also a hacking skill that unlocks codebreaker modules, but the skill itself improves your hacking speed period, however, I wouldn't make this too high a priority as its gated by dropsuit core upgrades 3 or 4, which is a lot of SP for not much gain for a new player.
Again, I highly recommend using militia suits with militia/basic mods/weapons until you decide which suit you like. Then i would go straight for the assault version as its slightly better than the medium suit and costs less, but requires more of a SP investment. Also, you won't be fitting a GEK or a Duvolle AR on those militia suits unless you like empty slots (this is a no-no) and expensive deaths. Cheap militia suits/fits are quite effective and you don't have to worry about dying at all really.
Lastly, gallente assault gets a slight bonus to using hybrid weapons, which includes assault rifles and sniper rifles. Thanks for your input. I am currently using the GeK 38, Codewish duvolle, and the burst ar, yes they are expensive and 9 out of 10 times i do have empty slots. but I am looking to start using a much cheaper ar, with damage mods just to make up for all the isk Ive lost by not knowing how to preform with said weapon. As a new player, I thought more expensive gear means more kills. NEGATIVE I am also using a militia codebreaker at the moment which does show a slight increase in hack speed. but I do want to go with at least standard codebreaker.
The more I play the game, the more I enjoy it. just looking for a good corp to get in with to learn the other side of the game... thanks again for your input. |

Fox Gaden wrote:armor upgrades: +5% to total armor per skill level shield upgrades: +5% to total shield per skill level
Those two will give you a bit more health.
Dropsuit electronics: +5% to total CPU Dropsuit engineering: +5% to total Power Grid
When you donGÇÖt have enough CPU or Power Grid to fit what you want to fit on your suit, these skills can give you more to play with. Keep in mind that you may be able to free up CPU/Power Grid by upgrading Militia items, or downgrading Advanced/Proto items to Basic, as Basic items use the least amount of CPU and Power Grid. There is also the option of equipping low slot items that increase CPU or Power Grid. (This is usually an interim measure because there are usually better things to put in your low slots.)
I generally recommend equipping an Armour repair in one of your low slots to regenerate your armour between battles. Even if you shield tank, your armour gives you that buffer when your shields go down to run for cover. Without an armour repair that buffer may not be there for you the second time your shields go down. (Requires the Armor repair skill.)
DonGÇÖt bother putting points into Dropsuits until you have your Dropsuit Upgrades and Weapon skills to a reasonable level. Your AR skills seem fairly solid. Thanks Fox for your input. I really don't want to go into a dropsuit yet due to, I hear there are going to be different classes in the upcoming update?! I like to run assault as you can see by what I have already specced into... However, I dont want to be just a run and gun guy, I would also like to increase hack skills so we can get in and get out with the completed hack. If this sounds strange let me know. I am all for the input right now.

Wolfica wrote:for an idea of how much sp it takes, when i got my respec i spent 4.68 mill on proto cal logi, complex shield enhancers and complex armor plates. it is a horrible idea as a beginner to spec into everything in the beginning, do not do this. it is essential to know what you want before you get it, and how it will affect your game play. skilling into the armor and shield upgrades first is a great idea because you get more hp and no side affects, increasing your survival time. there are many cases when in a fight you will end it with having 0/0 shield/armor and even running millitia gear having those basics can give you proto gear stats. i like what i did with my respec and how the tanking works out, im able to have over 1100 hp, thats only 100 less then my old heavy proto. the proto cal logi is a good suit, since you want speed and hack speed, since those are low slot i sugest 3 speed mods(forgot the name) and a code breaker, then in the high slots you can place shield enhancers. this will give you a very fast suit and have over 500 hp in just shields. if you are still looking for a corp you can apply to PXRXO. we are the largest corporation in dust. make sure to write a little about yourself reqs to get in: be over 18, have a mic
Thanks wolf, I will keep it in mind. I appreciate your input. I will also keep your corp in mind |
