Hello everyone, I have been playing this game now for a respectable amount of time. I was a late beta adopter. I really like what this game could become, however, I am finding that things aren't quite balanced in the way of flow and gameplay. I could gripe about how much isk i've lost due to server lag and performance issues, but i wont, Im going to try to stick to the point. Being a late adopter, I didnt get the opportunity most of you have had to test out gear and suits to see what does what, and then be allowed to respec, like everyone who joined in early on seemed to get. and no, im not going to make this a boo hoo story. I just want to try and offer a solution so that new players can have something to look forward to in this game. Ive brought a couple people in, who have just simply quit, because they cant see the goal or the point of the game, because they cant experience what ive seen first hand.
I really would like to see a simulation area or shooting range or holodeck. however you want to label it. an offline area where a user can go in, see what options are available in the game, and test out the gear. let new people learn what they like by playing with it first hand in a simlated area, so that they can make wiser investments into their time and gameplay. Every users instinct is to explore different options a game has to offer, but in the current infastrcuture, you are actually peanalized for doing so, which shouldnt be the case. A game should be enjoyable, and you should want to earn up to something, but when you dont know exactly everything does, you're only left with exploration, but in doing so, you fall behind the curve. Heck, the only way that I have found I can actually stay afloat in a game is by loading up a heavy with a tactical rifle, wanting to explore, but fearful that if i do, my investment of time and energy are wasted. having a simulated area, would take this element out of the game. new users are going to be confused, and need to test and experiment, but as it stands, they have no real way of doing so, short of doing what comes naturally, exploring.
Also, as a sidenote to the development team, another idea I would like you to consider. Server lag seems to be a major plaugue on this game, for me at least in my experience, and I have a comperable connection. what I would like to sugguest is that you take a look at the thought process behind bitcoining, to improve gameplay. Allow users to opt their computer into being a server or support node for the network. Have a client that people can install that supports the infastructure, and in turn, they gain aurum for helping towards the cause. I for one would be happy to adopt a process like this and i think that it could be a revolutionary way to set a new standard in gaming.
these are just my humble two cents though, take it or leave it.

Well, Im glad to hear that a testing room is on the todo list. It really shouldnt be too hard to spawn a user into an empty room with item pickups, after all, the UDK was designed for this style of gameplay in the first place. There really wouldnt need to be any AI either, just objects moving at different speeds, so that you can test item accuracy, with an inflicted damage display, for seeing how powerful each item is. |
