Spycrab's Guide to being a battle medic.
Being a battle medic means that you put your patient before you do your kills. Now, I am not saying that you have to always have your rep tool out, I am just saying that you need to be consistently checking your allies health to make sure that nothing is wrong. Being a battle medic also means that you should try to stick behind your allies, being in the front-lines will only get you killed and will take your attention away from healing and reviving fallen team mates. I will go into further depth with these points.
- Don't risk your life to revive a team mate: Yes, this may sound selfish but two dead soldiers is worse than one dead soldier. Before you revive somebody, make sure you know how they died and what the surrounding are like. There are three conditions where you CAN'T revive the person; Headshots, Getting ran over, and Point blank explosions (grenade, MD to the face, etc). As long as you keep those conditions in mind, you will not try to revive them because you know it is impossible. Also, if they got sniped and you are not sure whether or not the sniper has been taken care of, DON'T REVIVE THEM. This will just cause you to get sniped and goes back the beginning of this paragraph. Exceptions to this are if you are absolutely sure that the sniper can't see you reviving them.
- Your rep tool is your friend: The repair tool is a large part in any battle medics arsenal. You can keep people alive by constantly repairing them, or share the love by spreading the reps around. Heavies and Gallente suits will love you forever if you give them a nice rep or two. Now, this doesn't mean that other suits don't need it, if you see someone that needs a rep then you should give it too them. But learn to take priority with this. A heavy low on armor needs it more than a Caldari with half shield and no armor.
- Allies are friends, not food: When I say this I mean that if you are doing this for the points, you are doing this for the team. There is a cap that limits how many points you can get for repairing someone every minute. When you hit this cap, keep repairing if they need it. Don't do this just for the points.
And that is all I have to say for now, if I think of anything else I will add it.
Thanks, ~Spycrab :D |

I've wondered about getting 'heal happy' and healing someone when if I had my rifle out and converging fire on the target, the target might drop (and my heal rate wont counter the enemies gun rate). On the other hand, if I got to converge fire and the other guy dies...oh wait, I just got into logi and forgot I can rez as well now...hmmm |

Don't worry, once you get the hang of how well your repper reps, and the amount of armor each race generally has. You will learn to quickly deduct this by seeing how much health the enemy has compared to your wounded team mate. |

I tend to try and heal, but if I notice that the heavy I'm healing is dying faster than I can heal, I pull out my GEK-38, help kill the guy, then heal the heavy. Works pretty well... most of the time. Those other times, the enemy dies, then I revive my heavy. Of course, I only do this if I'm the only other person nearby that can help... which I usually am. No one likes to wait on the slow heavy or the semi-slow logi. Sad but true. |
