Alright first of all if CCP takes out the laser rifle out of the game then **** it i'm leaving cause that is about the only cool weapon that i like to use (i know you guys don't care if i leave and blah blah blah).
Secondly for the love of god the laser rifle is NOT worthless I use it on most maps and i usually get about 15/3 when i get a map thats good for the laser rifle. The thing that i see what most people are having trouble understanding about the weapon is that its very situational and you NEED to know when to retreat to an open area and lure people to come after you. There no shame in retreating so that you can then regain your advantage. Also i would suggest to anyone considering to use the laser rifle is that you should position yourself ABOVE and AWAY from the frontlines.
Third pick your targets wisely unlike the AR this is not a spray and pray weapon its a precision LASER weapon. Si what does that mean you may ask yourself? Well it means that since the majority of players love to join the band wagon of going shield CALDARI (hint hint nudge nudge) then you're going to shred through their defences and when i mean shred that's an understatement i should say obliterate.
Now last but not least if you have ANY questions about this marvelous (did i spell that right?) weapon feel free to ask me anything or just send me mail in-game. Hope this was helpful.
Sincerely, Echo, |

Sincerely, Echo, Is the damage tied to how long it's been continuously firing or is it just heat level right now? Been a long time since I've used one. Based off how long the rifle has been firing which in my opinion its better for the rifle. |

Sincerely, Echo, Dude everyone here know how to use the laser....we just want to see it return to Dust because right now it is a weapon that needs so work done to it.
DUDE you'd be really surprised by how many really good players i know use the weapon incorrectly. |

How well would you have done if you had played the matches exactly the same way but with a TAC (the LR's counterpart) assuming you had equivalent gear and skills for it? There are many serious handicaps to the LR (as there should be) that the TAC doesn't have, but are there situations where the LR really shines and the TAC fails? I haven't seen any of them. It doesn't have the up-close range penalty, it doesn't reveal your location to everyone, it doesn't overheat, it does excellent DPS in the right hands, it's great against armor and shields, it doesn't require you to pop your head out of cover, vulnerable for significant periods to be effective, it can do damage quickly and not require you to burn through ammo heating it up. So what situations are you happy you have an LR instead of a TAC? Where are it's advantages? The LR feels like the ugly step-sister to the TAC, instead of a niche weapon that can really outshine the TAC in certain tactical scenarios, while being limited in all of the other ways I mentioned.
When i go up against tac users now they're not that mich of a problem and i think you're giving the gun more credit than its worth. Although yea i will admitt that i have been killed by them it doesn't mean that they will always win just because the stats of a weapon look better and would seem to function better just by looking at numbers. Its they way that you position you're self and use the weapon determines who will mostly likely win and most people don't notice that when i retreat that i'm regaining my advantage all of over and where i just lead them into an open area. |

The LR needs to get hotter faster and have longer range.
and speaking of comparing the LR to the SCR - changing the LR to do more damage as long as it stays on target does nothing but make it a version of the SCR that lets your target know you are charging it and lets them cancel the charge by jumping.
Well isn't an offensive weapon technically unlike the SCR its meant to hold down small areas like the HMG but just at longer ranges. While at the same time the SCR is more so used to "push" for the objectives. And i think this is where people tend not to understand Or simply ignore the specific use of this weapon. For example today i wavplaying ambush and as usual i was using my trusty laser. When i realized that the enemy was trying to flank us from a specific CRU so i went to the gate corresponding to the CRU and held back two heavies, one ar user, and a mass driver. So what did this do for my team? Stoped an enemy force from flanking is and gave my squad/ corp mates enough time to go in and nuetralize the CRU. Sadly while they were capturing the CRU i got sniped lol. My point is while most people want a weapon that they can use to capture things that not what this weapon is for rather its better used in a squad to hold down a position or surpress the enemy at a specific location. Much like the sniper does but more aggressively. And as far as the damage goes it may need a oh so slight and when i mean slight i mean like real small buff to either its heat build up or base damage. |

I've been using the LR since it was first introduced. I know the ins and the outs of the weapon and what it should be used for. It doesn't do those things very well anymore. It needs faster heat buildup and/or a wider optimal range to give it back the "oh **** laser" effect it had. Sure you can get kills with it, but it doesn't have the fear factor it needs to make an enemy squad keep their heads down. The SCR or tac AR can do the things a LR is supposed to be unrivaled at much better, and theyare able to be used to push an objective or be useful at close quarters. I do really like the fact you are trying to educate people on the weapon, though.
Lol I think I might just jeez in my pants when the fix for the gun comes out...
