Yeah, so, had an interesting experience today. I solo'd a tank.
Now you might say, "DB, you're a Heavy. Us tank drivers already pray to whatever gods we believe in that every one of you Forge Gunners develops testicular cancer. That's no surprise."
However, I was using nothing but Flux Grenades and my trusty HMG. I had no idea I could kill a tank with an HMG. I never tried before. Granted, it could have been a gimp tank, but...seriously.
ON TOPIC:
I always though vehicles should reliably die to AV, but that they should be cheap enough to field every game if you wanted. That way vehicles are more like a class (like Assault or Logi or Heavy) and a valid playstyle, without being frustratingly powerful.
I honestly believe it should be no more expensive to field a HAV than it is to field a proto Assault, given that AV remains effective. |

Charlotte O'Dell wrote: A good tank will cost roughly 1.2 million. The average payout per match is 300k. That means a tank has to survive 4 matches to break even, and 5 to make a profit. Ask yourself: how many tanks do you see survive an entire match, compared to the total number of tanks you see deployed? -- i imagine, not many.
And that's exactly what I mean. I feel like if you roll back the HP buff just a little bit and:
Basic tank = 150k ISK Good tank = 300k ISK Great tank = 900k ISK
The game would still be balanced, and tankers would have more of a reason to specialize and be able to afford to practice. Infantry would be paper, tank would be rock, AV would be scissors. Game would be hectic, diverse, and fun. |
