The LAVs squishing bunches of infantry are a massive pain in the butt.
One thing I think might help is that the driver and gunner should take damage when it flips over or hits something very solid (a building, for example).
Another possible solution is to not allow a vehicle to AUTOMATICALLY flip itself over unless the driver gets out and flips it over manually (like a repair function).
These things would make people drive them with more care but not completely nerf their ability to squish infantry. |

Punishing players for buggy terrain solves nothing- it especially won't stop you from getting run over.
I still prefer the idea where getting hit isn't insta-death. |

Here i go again How about allowing us to use our inertia dampeners to defend against vehicles? More on this here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=962334#post962334 |

We could use our inertia dampeners to protect ourselves from vehicle impact. If only we could activate them at will and not during fall only. Tap X for jump, hold X for dampeners... If you are bad at predicting impact you still loose...
It would have no effect on slowly moving (compared to vehicles) mercs. Only high inertia would be dampened by it. Like we have it during free fall now.
Have you ever happened to break into pieces an "earthworm" jelly candy by holding it on one end and slapping it on the table fast? It will break at least in half. If you squeeze it slowly nothing bad will happen. But it "hardens and stiffen" upon impact.
Same for dampeners. No worry over abussing it imho...
One should not be able to move or shoot upon activating dampeners. Don't know about taking no damage from shots. But should not be invincible to melee or nova knife for sure |

Heck, I've seen snipers spawn LAVs and ride them off those super tall towers so they can avoid dying from jumping off. LAVs should not be a free pass from falling damage or hitting bigger objects.
Damage should be done to occupants of a vehicle if they hit something big and immovable (like the ground or a building). I mean, if you fail to use your inertia dampeners, you go splat.
Hell, if I JUMP down a few meters of cliff, I take some damage.
In my humble opinion, the terrain isn't bugged. Autoflipping vehicles is silly. There should be some sort of penalty for driving recklessly and flipping yourself over.
It might help if being hit by an LAV wasn't instadeath, as you suggest, but I think looking at how damage is applied to vehicle occupants would be a good idea. And autoflipping. Autoflipping is dumb. |
