Looking at the patch notes, I noticed that it mentions a fix for forge gun projectiles, but nothing for the Mass Driver.
Is this just an oversight from the guys writing the patch notes, or is it really not getting fixed yet? |

There might be. The dev blog closes with:Quote: This release includes a host of important stability and performance fixes, as well as new items, features and gear balancing
This is after stuff like the range edits and new modules get mentioned in the blog though. So, maybe there are "gear balancing" changes that they didn't bother explicitly spelling out in the patch notes. That wouldn't be a first.

The mass driver problem I think he refers to is a bug with the explosions, not a balancing issues. |

This is correct, the issue being the location of the explosion and where the projectile goes don't match up. |

Yeah, this was more my point.
I realize there are de-sync issues rendering the projectiles ineffective, but it's possible some of the engine performance tweaks makes them more useful again.
On the other hand, they could have an unlisted splash damage increase (or fix to how objects occlude/don't occlude splash damage), since radius buff seems to be their fix to nanite injectors. |

I believe the fix for mass drivers is filed under server improvements because it is a server to client issue in hopes of getting both to see the same story. Hold on while I see if I can get an answer. |

MDs, vehicle support actions, flaylocks, plasma cannons, small railguns you name it, most is UI and new dropsuits but I think CCP will go for more vehicles and guns next patch. |

Well I just got done talking with CCP Wolfman about it, there should be some improvements in for 1.2 with continued tweaking afterwards. Let any of us know if it doesn't get entirely fixed (or at all) after the patch deploys.
I hope is that the fix will be good enough to see where the mass driver belongs on the field and if its still viable weapon of sorts. While I have seen it used very effectively as a CqC killer I haven't seen any long range suppression action with it lately. |

There's nothing wrong with MD. They are fixed.... They damage ARMOR as intended. |

Sigh... since you're not paying attention.
The story the client (you) sees and what actually happens (sever) was two different stories when it game to various projectile based weapons the Mass Drive most heavily affected.
This allowed for extremely frustrating operation of the mass driver from having shells go through people and not detonate to shells hitting one place and well... the explosion meters away in different direction sometimes.
In short it is not the stats of the weapon in question but usability and function being broken in the first place.

They added to the patch notes:
Quote: Additional 1.2 changes include:
* All the salvage acquired during a planetary conquest match will now been shown on the End of Match screen instead of just 5 items * Improved speed of RDV vehicle delivery as well as applied tweaks to the RDV AI * Improved server to client performance of projectile based weaponry * Chat channels with more than 50 users (mercenaries or capsuleers) will now operate in delayed chat mode

What happened to the pilot suits? I saw the skill in the trailer, and I think CCP Frame said at E3 (can't remember who, so tired right now) said that that they were coming in the next build. Anyways, Yea, the MD, and pretty much every much every other explosive weapon is under the client/server note.

This is true about CqC 50% of the time or maybe less. The other half is well documented.
I think any person that's stuck with the mass driver should be reimbursed for losing tons of suits to people who shouldn't have been alive. |

I believe it means that the RDV's will appear faster (closer to the '15 seconds' that the announcer always says), not that they will necessarily move faster in the air.
As far as the mass driver, if this truly fixes some of the issues, I will be a happy camper.
But there still will be some lingering issues that annoy me about the mass driver. Such as the unnecessary radius nerf and the flattening of the projectile trajectory. Actually, the radius I can live with, but the change in trajectory is just much, much worse than in chromosome. The mass driver needs an arced rather than straight trajectory so you can realistically land it near your target with any thing other than immense high ground advantage. I hope they look at this at some point, and bring it closer to how it was in Chromosome. |

All projectile based so that would be the plasma cannon, flay lock (dear god), mass Drivers, swarm launchers, and I think the missile launchers. |

What worries me are the optimal range changes.
I hope that the damage for the mass driver remains consistent throughout its range. The potency of the explosion should not be diminished by the distance travelled.
The last thing we need is another nerf.
P.S. Really this weapon should just be reverted to Chromosome functionality. The time to kill with the mass driver was probably the highest of any weapon in the game, even BEFORE the Uprising nerfs.
P.P.S. Don't forget the trajectory. Put it back. If you want flat trajectory, put it on the assault variant. |

The FP does have some issues with registering, it won't register any splash damage if the round doesn't land on a flat surface, sometimes the round goes right thru the person etc... I know people may laugh at this or some may even be a little worried by this but it is the truth. |
