Some decent QOL stuff. Biggest thing is the range changes, but to understand the difference we gotta wait till the patch drops. |

Good catch. Nothing to write home about, but looks ok. Waiting to see Commandos since that determines whether or not i take a break for a month or so |

Indeed -- looks promising.
You can tell that the things that were focused on in 1.2 were things that were hot button issues at launch (awoxing, weapon ranges).
I'd expect 1.3 to attempt to start fixing some of the hot button issues of today, lav's, certain weapons that are to noob friendly (flaylocks), etc.
This makes sense as they sit down and define priorities for their monthly dev cycles. I'm happy with the progress.... i know some less informed may not be as it's not what they want now...but most of what is needed for change now, will happen in a few months... so cheer up soldiers... |

still nothing about connection problems which is the biggest problem in the game! nothing about vehicles either!? no love for us, of course. Otherwise, I approve. Good job this time, CCP. |

Agreed. For once I see important issues being tackled here. Although I HAZ QUESTION!
Quote: * Added two new terraforming types * Manus Peak - fixed the issue where MCC shield would let bullets through
What does it mean by terraforming types? So shooting through the MCC shields was an issue rather than a feature? If so, why does it reference Manus Peak when this issue was apparent in all maps?
Quote: * Updated range settings for all handheld weapons to allow for damage to be dealt over longer distances.
Does this have any impact on the nova knives since the knives are technically handheld weapons?
Quote: * Memory and CPU optimizations
I hope this fixes the frame rate issue. |

I'm going to forgive the obvious bias because i'm sure you have a vested interest into keeping them how they are... but unfortunately they are too easy to be good with.
I can spec min assault, grab 2 core flaylocks, run into a full squad and jump while shooting 8 rounds of devestation at feet to wipe out 6 guys....
Despite what you may think, this isn't balanced and creates an un-fun mechanic for the 6 people that just got wiped out through no choice of their own other then trying to work together as a squad.
I'm not looking for a heavy handed nerf to the fp, just a decent splash radius decrease.

People will never be satisfied and will always have something to complain about. I'm really glad CCP is at least addressing a lot of core imbalances in the game and am glad they've been listening to feedback. These changes don't seem like much, but I'm sure once the patch deploys the feedback will evolve and we'll have another layer to build on. The cycle will continue until this game is great, and then it'll just keep getting better. |

Even when Dust is finally a true MMOFPS game with full blown PC conflicts that actually matter and feel fully connected with a vibrant economy and politics that match that of Eve, there will still be people who are not satisfied. Take a look at Eve. People are still complaining over there over something. |

hold your horses! it's says "nearly monthly updates", this can mean 6 weeks, and I bet this is what we can expect to see at best.

Was das? (what is this?)
SSAO stands for Screen Space Ambient Occlusion It's a relatively low processing power technique that attempts to more realistically make environmental objects, models, and features react to light conditions. If you played Dark Souls on PC, SSAO was one of the options that DSFix added via hooks to the game engine - you should be able to find some comparison shots. For a single effect, it's fairly impressive (and as support in Dark Souls shows, it goes back to DirectX 9 or so).
Anyhow, remember the recent dev blog ended with this:
Quote: This release includes a host of important stability and performance fixes, as well as new items, features and gear balancing
That was AFTER the bit about range changes and modules, so I'm wondering what other "gear balancing" is present that isn't explicitly mentioned. |

One thing I'd looooove even though it's not a huge deal, is to have the map back into the minimap. I mean, what are we playing here? Socom? Gimme my map lol. |

EDIT: All good stuff, but the no mention of combat rifle, pilot suit, or new outposts along with other stuff we seen in the Fight Your Own War trailer, or that interview from E3 when they spoke about Uprising 1.2 makes me kind of sad. Hopefully there will be some surprises not mentioned in the patch notes. This all still sounds good.
KAGEHOSHI you of all people should know CCP's stance on this type of stuff.
do the words --- Soon(TM) come to mind....
Tsk Tsk.... dude got over 4000 likes and asking about combat rifle and stuff... Cmon now..... people these days!!!!!!!
