Imagine an assault squad of 3 or 4 Commandos. You dont' need grenades cause you are pro with AR. Your equipment slots are a mix of Remotes, Uplinks, and Hives. You get in behind enemy lines cause your squad works together well. You set explosives and fallback points. Your AR game is so pro that they bring out tanks to try to break your entrenched defense. Your squad of 3 or 4 laugh and all swap to the Swarm, or for giggles, Plasma Cannons. You all shoot off 1 or 2 volleys in 3 seconds, the tank pops near instantly (even if proto). The infantry try to move in on you with the tank support that made you switch to AV, but you just instantly switch back to ARs. No Supply Depot in sight.
Assault suits can only do 1 or the other... Lol, ya commandos are gonna lawl the field. They dont' need modules, because they carry two powerful focus weapons, 1 for AI, the other for AV.
This is a good addition and the suit will be well worth the points spent. |

Then Commando is not for you. Stay assault and save up for the future. In the future, there will be suits with 2 or more grenade slots. Search for CCP Fanfest 2013 videos. There is a roadmap that explains that I think. So you will love the future. |

And laugh at fatties trying to be range combatants with there larger hitbox. A good tank driver will never be in AV nade range. Swarms they can't dodge a full volley from 4 people fast enough to avoid death from long range. Swarms will kill them before they hit the ground from the RDV dropping them off. AV nades can't even compare. |

DUST Fiend wrote:Trade the equipment slot for a grenade slot. Heavies shouldn't have equipment, and not having a grenade is a wonderful way to really gimp a suit, nevermind the ****** layout in that video. Here's hoping something changes, or I'm staying basic heavy for forever since both heavy variants will be a bad joke at best Commandos need to be able to carry equipment. The mere word alone triggers countless movie scenes in my head where Rambo type commando squads have a goal to set C4 on a high priority target and get it done without getting shot at. They need to carry equipment. Later we will have more specialized equipment like cloaking fields and mini point defense shields. Commandos should have access to them. Each commando carries the equipment they need for the job. They are not the front line pushers that slowly gain ground and hold bases. They are the get in and get it done crew. |

I'm still waiting to see the stats for myself, but I'm already at the end of my hope rope for DUST as is.... That is a small quote from a big picture. That is part of a 3 to 4 man squad. Only one would have a hive if at all, and it would be a top of the line one cause that is his job to carry that equipment slot. Smaller weapons... lol, you make it sound like they are sidearms. They get access to two very strong light weapons. Protoswarms can tear up HAV, LAV, and Dropships. AR is the standard use weapon of the game and shouldn't' be considered a weak weapon. |

And then promptly return when they add the grenadier. Which might be a light frame. You could then run around with Flux nades and AV nade and solo proto tanks that can't track even your shadow. Enjoy your time away from Dust when 1.2 hits. |

Enjoy your time away from Dust when 1.2 hits. Why would I promptly return? I can't afford boosters, and there is no system in place to allow me to try out different playstyles. I either love what I spec into for the rest of my DUST career, or I set the game down and do something else. You will come back because Dust will offer more things than any other FPS out there currently and in the medium future time scale. They have roadmap plans to add VR like areas where you could try out weapons. It just may not be any time soon. So, like I said, enjoy your time away from Dust. We will welcome you back whenever you return. |
