They get access to two very strong light weapons. Protoswarms can tear up HAV, LAV, and Dropships. AR is the standard use weapon of the game and shouldn't' be considered a weak weapon.
problem is sentinel sucks, so this other option is even worse if you want to play heavy with heavy weapons. this MAY change when racial Heavy suits and weapons come out but as it stands only reason to get a sentinel is its cheaper per suit (weapon feedback dmg cuz im gonna use a lasor...and reload speed is meh). This is as a another thread put it just putting the heavy in its role as the bastard child of Dust.
I only have Amarr heavy 3 specced because i see no need to go any higher. Base HP stays the same and one more low slot just slows me down more.
I would have much rather seen more Heavy weapons released than anything else. Hell the ARs have ALL their place holders and mediums have ALL their suits plus grenades plasma cannon and swarms for AV. We get ONE AI and ONE AV and ONE racial suit no grenades no equipment. Seem fair...
Edit: as i look at my post it seems like they trying to phase out the heavy class...assaults for everyone \o/ |

You obviously dont play heavy... I dont want to use light weapons i want to use really big kitten guns. I already run SCR on one build because HMG isnt competive on maps with big open spaces and we dont have other options. I dont want to lose armor and slots (read die easier) for a chance to run light weapons and in all probability run only fractionally faster. If i wanted to do that i could spec medium... also did you watch the trailer i laughed cuz in game that heavy would have been just as dead as the scout. |

when the stats come out i will be back to show you how a medium frame will do everything better...

I really think... for balance... that H + S + G = L + L in terms of weapon slots... and it should have very near the same amount of slots that the amarr sentinel suit has. If the Amarr sentinel has 5 slots at proto... I think this suit needs 4 slots.
2H/2L would make a lot more sense for this suit imo, base stats around 300/300 - 320/320 (vs. 405/405 for the sentinel and 180/180 for assault) and move speed of 4.2 (vs. 4.8 for amarr assault and 3.4 for amarr sentinel).
This kind of gives it a cool middle ground between sentinel and medium frames.
Now for EHP.. you can somewhat reverse engineer what remnant decided as base HP for that suit. You need to look at every combination of armor upgrades and shield upgrades... and you can see that he has 1 complex shield extender on it. This gives him a modified hp of 392/312. Now I reverse engineered every combination of shield and armor upgrades given he has a single 72 hp shield extender on there, and I could not find a combination that gives him 312 armor. However.. If I say the extender is only worth 66 hp, I do get a single point that rounds to 312.
This disturbs me a little... If he has a complex extender on there he should have 72... so now im wondering if he's changed shield extension to no longer give a 10% bonus to extenders... or if he's changed armor/shield upgrades to no longer give 5% to shields and armor.
Anyways.. the number I could reverse engineer to get 392 shields and 312 armor with 1 66 hp shield extender was 271 armor and shields (this is also assuming amarr commando has the same shields and armor... but they all do so I think that's safe). He also has shield upgrades at 4 and armor upgrades at level 3.
I think it would make more sense to give it one heavy slot and the one light weapons slot. A forge and an AR or HMG and a swarm seems much more of a role for a "commando." It also rewards those who specced heavy weapons. Rather than allow people with light weapon skills already to easily spec into the suit. Where a player who specced heavy is at disadvantage specking light/medium suits because now he must spec into light weapons to use that suit. |
