I want to be a shotgunner, buy it's very hit or miss with me...some days I can go 19/2 consistently other days I'm quite negative.
I use the Amarr A-1 assault with two kincats and two enhanced shield extenders with the shotgun. My main problem is when people freak and start strafing like madmen...I just can't track them.
Any tips would be appreciated. |

Stealth play styles, like AV, is usually hit or miss. Just depends on who you're fighting. |

Instead of tracking your target. Try leading them, & let them walk into the firing cone. This requires a little patience, which is admittedly difficult in the middle of a fire fight. Timing is far more important than precise aiming with the shotgun. |

Never tried a shotgun fitting with the Amarr, but on paper it doesn't seem impossible. Amarr suits have less slots than all the other suits, but the highest CPU/PG as a tradeoff so you can equip higher meta level modules. Try out a good mix of Kinetic Catylizers and Cardiac Regulators so you can close in on someone quickly. You may never be as fast as a the other races' medium/assaults or have the lower signature of a scout, but you'll be less squishy. Experimenting with a breach shotty and sidearm combo wouldn't be a bad idea either. |

That was the exact reason I was using the Amarr suit for it, to fit more complex gear.
I have Armor reps and plates at V so my base HP is quite nice...I have Scrambler Pistols at IV so I'm working on getting it to V.
I was planning on Breach shotgun with an advanced SCrP (Scrambler Pistol), some kincats, and some cardiac regs. |

The best thing to use is surprise. Either bait them around a corner or something similar. Use a secondary even if just for show, (peeps see a SG'er from a mile away).
For aiming, I suggest two approaches. If they are unaware of your presence, anticipate their movements, take your time and lead them if necessary, and be huggably close of course.
If they are aware of your presence, I tend not to aim at them until the last second. Almost like dragscoping if you ever sniped in COD. Run/Strafe like you are going to run right by them, and slide your aim over and fire really quickly. The slight auto aim will slightly slow as you pass over the target leading to many direct hits. It takes a bit of practice to get the timing down, but is by far the most consistent way to actually land direct hits for me. It also has the unintended effect of the graphic not showing your aiming at them fast enough so they don't tend to preemptively react or dodge. |
