For those of you that wished CCP would do X, I guess they are looking for more people to do 'X'.

HR might mean more hiring ahead, but Game Design, Quality Assurance, Customer Support, etc. are all things people would probably like them to have more of. Unfortunately, my car probably wouldn't survive an oceanic commute, but it's interesting.

QA is a thankless and tedious job, and MMOs have so much balancing and tweaking - even when basic mechanics are solid there'll still be people complaining.
I'd say the whole "in China" bit is probably the larger barrier for the average English-speaking forum-goer.

I apologize for my unfounded assumptions then.
I do think they could probably to have some GMs across different timezones. The trolling and posting here happens internationally, but the moderation and such often seems to be on a more fixed time scale. That's a bit separate from hiring designers and QA though. |

I'm not sure if you played it, but Mass Effect 3's multiplayer had me thinking about the way patches work awhile back.
ME3 also had to wait for "major" updates to patch larger issues in the game, so there was sometimes a multi-week or month wait to get larger issues addressed. What they did have was -weekly- balance updates though. Every week you'd get patch listing with adjustments they'd made to damage, fire rate, etc. on the weapons based on feedback, internal data, and testing.
Balancing for a co-op game is different than PvP of course, but I'm thinking they might have had their raw data on weapons more accessible to tweaking than CCP does. They were able to adjust the weapons on a seven-day turn-around, and then rollback or tweak more within another week. They could do this without waiting for a "big" update. The fact that our weapon changes seem to require larger patches suggests the way CCP handles their weapon stats is entirely different (re: Tac AR adjustment didn't happen till 1.1 I think).
They might make things easier on themselves by storing that data differently.
