Maybe if i post what i put SP into on monday when i was respeced and you let me know where i should head from there/what i did wrong and so on?
Dropsuit command: 3 Amarr Heavy Dropsuit :5 Dropsuit upgrades: 2 Dropsuit armour: 5 Armour repair: 5 Dropsuit core: 5 Electronics: 5 Engineering: 5 Dropsuit Shield: 2 Weaponry: 5 Weapon Upgrades: 5 Explosives: 1 Grenadier: 1 Heavy Weapon operation: 4 Forgun: 5 with Prof: 1 HMG: 5 with Prof: 1 Side arm operation : 1 Scrambler pistol: 1 ( i like the SMG and scrambler equally and the scrambler takes less to fit was my reasoning, i know most dont like pistols )
The best fit i have (well what i think is best anyway) is 2 complex damage mods, 3 complex reppers, Boundless, scrambler pistol and flux grenades. Forge gun is basically the same but with a complex repper swapped for an enhanced and different nades.
Any input here would be real helpful. Also as far as having the car with the scanner, just use a freebie blue print or is it worth putting SP into?

I hadnt had Dust in front of me sadly today like I thought I would so I can't give you a detailed break down at this moment - so I'll follow up this post with a more descriptive one. But there's a few things I know from off the top of my head. Firstly: Grenadier - get it to 3 at least - the AV nades will be life savers in pub matches and your PC team will relax knowing you can multi-task a bit if tanks push hard. Plus the locus at that level are more useful. Next is the HMG dmg increase passive - max it out. FG is secondary in comparison because of outrageous SP cost for little reimbursement of power. But try to get it to 3. Max out the core skills that give armor/shield increase - probably before anything else you get. Next - about scanners - you dont need to skill into them - the MLT variant works well enough - throw one on a a mlt lav and practice using barricades in skirms. Improve to Saga and ultimately Logi-Lav at your own pace. You did well upgrading your cpu/pg core stats - but they come secondary compared to upgrading you damage and armor/shield stats. I take it you didn't get the amarr racial? Good call - it's trash. As for suit - you'll need at least 3 different pub variations and if you plan to PC - 3 more. The pub ones DO NOT require complex plate mods - nor rep mods. Rep mods in general you only need one - any level is fine though I use MLT. As for the other 2 slots - mlt armor extenders work well. They give you just enough extra health to survive some bad situations without slowing you down to a crawl. In PC you'll go full complex armor mods but pubs it's not needed. As for the left side slots: 1 Dmg enhance mod and 1 shield recharge mod. Dmg should be complex - and the shield recharge mod is up to you. Your point is survival and bringing pain in pubs - but it's a roll of patience. Use terrain and wait for people to get into optimal or use flanking routes to get to them - never charge straight in or let them charge you with the possibility they can open fire at range. HMG is beastly - and you should always stick to the ADV variant or PROTO - but it's range fallbacks are a bit painful. Keep close to terrain and this suit set up won't fail you. **As I said earlier I'll follow this post up when I can see dust in front of me. But this should be the gest of everything.
No i didnt go into the sentinel suit it didnt look very appealing and thank you for the help, never run heavy before so i need all the help i can get lol

lots of wasted SP here imo... engineering 5 as a heavy? sure it has its uses, but u just dropped well over 1 mil SP into a skill that gave you 3 PG total u are lacking in innate damage, innate shields, you have crap nades atm my advice.. hmg prof and forge prof, hmg reload, forge reload, forge ammo, all the stuff that goes with the weapon. biotic upgrades is also a good thing to have, and don't be the f@g that runs around in an LAV... try building your character and improve your skill with your weapon before becoming random sh1tbum #2944
ok cool thank you aswell, i am a little confused about a total of 3 pg though, 30% of 54 is 16. As far as the LAV thing do you mean not just driving around running people over like an ass hole or do you feel sotas barricade idea is no good? You guys have given me alot to think about and a sense of direction, never run the class before but im loving it and don't regret my choice one bit

CHICAGOCUBS4EVER wrote:tbh getting the level 1 sentinel for pubs is a good way to go. 47k SP to unlock and the cost is half that of the standard suit.
long term that 47k saves a LOT of ISK
my pub fit runs me about 30k, and that's only cause I have an addiction to core locus, which is half the price of the fit...
I could substitute with M1 nades and my fit would only cost me about 15k per suit...
make 200k+ per match, can die up to 10 times and STILL make $
the less you die the more you profit. ISK management is the other key to this game. and choosing to be a heavy.. you WILL die, a LOT more than other classes typically if you ever want to get kills lol
Should i stay away from the Sentinel if i have more money than sense and just run my Dren heavy instead? It is what i have been using in Pubs atm.
Can i ask a question about the core locus grenades? They are totally beast but one of the reasons i looked over grenadier so badly was i never thought i could run good nades as well as the other high end modules/weapons as the heavy has WAY less cpu/pg than an assault and i would assume running a fitting mod is an immediate no no. It seems to me based on your guys input that running plates is much better than reps and having a logi patch me up instead. I assume i wont need as much cpu/pg as running the reppers and will fit the nades on?
I will admit though i really do like the 18hp/s repair rate, has saved me from gang rapes quite a few times, not having to wait for the repair to kick in like shields has been awesome.

CHICAGOCUBS4EVER wrote:I typically don't go full rep, and avoid plates like the plague cause you are slow enough as it is without movement penalty. I use the basic plate on some fits, and a mix of different rep depending on the space I have.
you have to look at ways to DECREASE usage. you already have all the max innate pg/cpu
but heavy upgrades decrease CPU, explosives decrease CPU, fitting optimization decreases pg etc.
I can run fits with 3 different proto weapons at the same time.. weapon, submachine gun and nades all proto.
and I can still free up more space.
the dren would be a way to go. I don use it myself but im assuming its like the skinweave which is complete trash.
all about the cpu/pg on the suit before u start to fit it.
don't be discouraged tho. I mean I have way more SP than you and it seriously just takes time to get what you want. u could always join half the scrubs in this game and spec into a flaylock as your sidearm. takes up very little space even at the proto level
just be ready for it to get nerfed cause that's what happens when the majority uses the same thing...
don't get sucked into the latest and greatest crutch. Being a heavy is not easy, you take your lumps more than most and if costs a lot more SP to be on the same competitive level, and you STILL will get flack all the time cause your weapon is stronger than others.. way down the road
Awesome, will definitely look at getting the core nades down the track, they are far too good to be ignored if i can fit em. The "Dren" sentinel A-1 is just the standard sentinel suit with a different coat of paint and Dren written at the front so if thats good enough for pubs then scwheet.
Thanks a tonne for the input. |

ER-Bullitt wrote: Regarding Engineering... it costs like 900k SP to go from lvl 4 to lvl 5 in the Engineering skill... and all you get is like 2 extra PG. So the cost vs. reward ratio is extremely low at that point. Granted, if you need it to complete your ideal fitting and have nothing else to spend points on, then go for it. I think that is what he is saying is a waste.
Ok thanks for clearing that up, i should have been looking at it from a increase per level rather than overall total to avoid this. Its not the end of the world for me though, i have really only been set back by about 2 weeks SP as i still have boosters, it could have been worse and dropped points into something of absolutely no benefit to the heavy at any point down the track lol.

During chromosome i had points all over the shop and played everything, Uprising came and i went dedicated assault and upon respec i went heavy. Heavy is were the party is, no matter how gimped people say the class is, the HMG tears people up.
Plus the Forge gun is my favourite weapon in the game |
