My opinion about why they get kicked around after combat academy is that they have no support after they leave academy. My suggestion to all those big corp and smaller corp leaders is to take them under your wing. I know that it is not easy but I really hope you elite gamers do that. Sure it takes time and is not so rewarding but for future...
I am not a vet or good player but still I have been able to get six people playing this game after release. Sure my own stats and playstyle needs to be altered to help them but it is more rewarding and more fun.
I make my own events for my newborn beercases. Like today we are hunting pbears in pub match.
Target taggin and seeing that a new player with 650k sp rips and blows atleast 100k (protosuit and duvolle) of isk to the floor is rewarding. And from my point of view please elite players if you see us (beercase) on the field keep coming you are making us better by forcing us to play without your skill(player) and gear. We need tactics and luck to take you down. And we love it.
See you all on the field o7
Only on problem...
Forge gunners chug one beer after they kill a "popular" player... so after few rounds they dont hit anything....

True those new players that look about forums and really dig in to this will find it. But after looking at the games in combat academy where my newberries played at academy those poor souls did not really have any clue about the game or the universe. I was lucky and able to get few(6-10) to chat with me and most of them just downloaded dust to look what it is and I have not seen many of those players online after academy I did told them about dust university because it is the best place imo to get good in this game. But tutorials dont help on that. Players need players in dust. |

it's not that vets are trying to come off as elite but hanging out with noobs is very exhausting, they don't listen for one. "I got 33/0 in battle academy bla bla bla i know the game..." very few of them can be trained to play as a team, they blather away on the mic with no tactics at all, cracking noob jokes and whining.. it gets so old listening to when you could just be hanging out with vets and not taxing your sanity listening to the ramble of noobs saying this gun is op or that vehicle should be a kill streak... |

Very true I can feel your pain. But if even few players get the game system and how it works it is better than nothing. I think the reason why there is so wide player base is because it is easy to go and play dust.. But getting into and making it more than fps is a bit harder. Like most of us know. |

Being the lowest guy in a squad is just as crappy as being the lowest guy on the team when you solo.
Corps really do not help with this problem. |

I think the problem is not so much newb and vet and more familiar and unfamiliar. That is to say that players who have been playing for awhile have found people that they are happy to squad with and once you reach that stage you are less likely to invite other players into your squad without a compelling reason e.g. They are a member of your corp or alliance or someone in the squad knows them.
When you login into the game you just want to have fun and bringing in an unknown player to your squad could spoil your fun for that match.
Generally I am happy to speak to others but it depends what they are saying on coms and deciding whether chatting with this person will be interesting or not.
I think if CCP introduces proximity chat allowing you to chat to people outside of your squad would help when answering questions but I will ignore people who just go one about being elite, or this is op and generally **** talking. |

My corp happily takes on newberries and supports them in training up in their desired rolles. Allot of my best recruits have been picked up strait from the acadamy. Id like to see more corps doing this as it can only help strengthen and increase the games core player base. Iv had neumerous new recruits who were about to give up on the game untill they found us as their applications had been rejected by quite a few other corps because they dident have their k/d , sp and or warpoint requirements. I think even having a message coming up during the loading screan directing the newberies to the forums would really help aswell. |

Thank you!
Well some of the newberries read forums and I feel happy. The corporation my squad is playing just got an application and I sincerely hope yours will get some too. Keep it up! Lets get the game going!
And for record my op was not an recruitment annoucement. Just my feelings from tonight.

CCP I know you have your hands full of things but if you could do something about the tutorial or helping the new players I think we all get better!
