I guess the merc packs blinded the eyes of CCP and they don't remember "We want the game to be atractive for casual players". Did you even work in the Academy? At least you "talk" about the game in the "weekly update". "we talked about this", "we talked about that". Yes, talk is nice.
This is not a casual player game.
Go play COD if that's what you want, and stop trying to ruin this with COD syndrome. |

If this is not a causal player game then why does Passive SP gains exist?
I hate to break it to you, but FtP with a mirco-transactions business model is set to thrive on causal players sinking money in the game to get more out of it in a quicker fashion. |

Now can everybody please stop posting about it until the next patch is released? I'm tired of seeing threads about stuff that's already being addressed. |

LOL if you think sinking money into this makes anyone decent.
Casuals tend to be soloers, and prefer regenerating health and the like.
Decent players squad up on this game. It's why you hear so many crying over protostomping.
Protostomping is a problem, yes... but the problem there is not that there are prototype based teams, but that these pelayers are forced into newbie matches. There are tons of casual games out there, including COD.... do not infect this game with that bullshit. |

The problem is the existance of pub matches. Maybe allow for Let Dust be more like in EVE, give missions with PvE (when it comes out) Give FW matches with considerable advantages for winners burn PC out of existencce(or change it) Finally, let the mercs into null sec with the EVE pilots making it more of an aspect of EVE's null sec crazyness letting mercs assist the EVE pilots in various ways |

Yeah I get you don't like CoD, and it maybe surprising to you, but I'm not a fan of it either. However I think the issue is you're using causal in a different manner then I would. I think what you're saying is more akin to scrub or noob, then causal. Causal in my mind is someone who does not play all the time, or has limited time to play.
Furthermore I think you misunderstood what I was saying with reference to FtP business model. It's got nothing to do about sinking money in the game making players "good" per say. It's about sinking money in the game to enhance your expierence. The game needs to be able to entice players into spending irl cash on the game in order to continue to exist. |

yup there is a massive gap of skill points and learning curve. But the cheaper proto suits that are non racial specific did help to close the gap. Good thinking CCP |

Why isn't it? Not everyone has time or energy left at the end of the day for all the Eve drama, but we do enjoy the game. I don't see any reason why it can't grow to have something for everyone - just like a real giant expanse of stars and planets would. Sooner or later all the people that want everything in the game to go the way they want it to will have to learn that without new blood, this game will fade away. I don't want that.
It makes sense that as big as Dust aspires to be that it could have game types, or even certain zones that casual players can join in and play the game as entertainment. If they are feeling frisky then they have the option to quest over into the more serious sectors where all the juicy lore and all that Eve backstabbing that seems to be "just the way Eve/Dust work" is going full throttle.
To me that is the best of both worlds. Who knows, given the option you might even see more people getting involved politics and community if they have a place in the universe to get started and build up something.

That's actually the way CCP wants it. Deep, immersive gameplay for hardcore gamers and accessible, moment-to-moment gameplay for casual gamers, and the casual gamers can delve into the deeper side if they get the inkling. As it is there are problems with both ends of that pool. The deep end isn't nearly fleshed out enough so it's pretty much all shallow end and the casual players are getting pub stomped by hardcore players who have nowhere else to go. The matchmaking fixes coming in 1.2 should help with this a bit, but I think getting the PVE content out would help tremendously. |
