I will remain a dedicated supporter of Dust 514, even if I can't stand to play or grind on it for any point.
I started this month and its basically nearly impossible to advance in the game or "catch up", the only game-modes are standard PVP and the other members are proto, there is no hope of catching up. Is it worth my time? no. I love the idea of the game, the load-out system, the monthly updates (I really do appreciate), the assortments of ways to play the game.
Dust 514 has become the center of my living room today, but its hardly playable. Sure I have had fun moments when im not dead 5 million times over in one match. I would appreciate it if CCP would put in a ELO rating or skill matching system that would make the matches 60% less one sided. I find the only way I don't stand out like a tooth pick is when I'm backing up protos on my team, which is a rare thing to find in most cases.
I am subscribed to a number of Dust 514 players, some of which have been players as soon as the first beta of released. I continue to support them. its the vision I share with CCP that counts. I really don't care about EVE integration, it is a nice thought but not really in the game. one thing that would get me a slight more interested is focusing instead on the corporation system. I own my own corp and the only thing I can admire in it is its name of which I picked.
The grind would be less of a problem to me if there were more moment to moment rewards for each match, like a visual reading or scene or music (something non repetitive) make me feel like I went to those planets, share some culture, some npc interaction. That might be a little too hard to pull off but it would bring a triple title feel to the game.
I will be reading the updates, the forums, the videos on this game, I hope the years will turn my thoughts around as I enjoy this games down the road. |

you are not alone in your thoughts clone. ive been with this game for nearing 5 months now, and running proto gear is not what is thought up to be. yes you see guys using proto gear and I do all the time, but that's because ive spent the last 5 months working for it. the first million sp is always the hardest because you are new and just learning the game mechanics and getting thrown into matches with people who have been playing the game since closed beta they now all the tricks in the book, and most likely came up with some of them. when I first started playing I had no clue how anything even worked, i think the hardest part was figuring out how to activate my microphone. this game comes from an mmo that requires the people who play it to spend years of there lives building up to something. only because is a good reference, a titan takes around 2.5 years of constant skilling to fly and be useful. if 1 person wanted to build that titan it would take them 8-12 years if they mined for 4 hours a day, then it takes about 6 months to build and has to be built in a high sec system of .9 rating, (i believe) the construction structure is massive and is a gigantic sign post for any one flying by that reads "attack me." for many people who jumped into dust coming from most other fps games the amount of time that you have to spend grinding and what not is just too much for them, i am glad that you have been able to stick with the game even though the constant pub stomps but there is light at the end of the tunnel, in this next update 1.2 it has been rumored through the cpm forums and by a few people at ccp that matchmaking has been looked into and a new matchmaking mechanic will be used, ive heard they take amount of sp into account. |

your first mistake was creating your own corp in the first month, try hooking up with one of the larger groups to learn the in-game tactics and tips/tricks to win, its not just about proto suits, i use a basic heavy sentinel suit and rock proto's all day long with my crd-9 scrambler rifle, as well as a great supporting team.
they're are more rewards, it's called higher isk,sp and good salvage, and there is more to come i'm sure, eve will become more intergrated from what i hear to the point we're just ground troops for them to take the planets we visit and our corps will gain support from players on eve taking more planets which is why large old corps are a help. by that i mean, more planets held by the players on eve in your corp would benifit you in the market place buying new items by having cheaper prices ect.
current k/d 1.49 and rising, with an average of 1000+ wp a match, highest match being 2300+ at 27k, 9a, 3d, not the best for sure, but nothing to shake a stick at either |

like duck said the best thing for a new player to do is join an older and larger corp.... PXRXO is always recruiting. there are always players voiced up willing to help. |

If feel similarly to you Clone. I've been playing for close to 2 months now and decided to give it a rest. Dust University is great and probably the only reason I was able to stay active as long as I did.
There are essentially three reasons I'm going to play Dust a lot less. Firstly the daily downtime is a major inconvenience for me, does it really have to be every single day and if it does could they vary the time a little. Second, I made the mistake of trying out mouse and keyboard. I've never played an FPS on a PC but I was aware of the claim that mouse and keyboard is superior, I found that claim to be very true. Although moving around was a lot harder for me aiming was so much easier, my KDR went from 0.5 (I play Logi) to about 4 after a couple of matches. Now that I know the playing field isn't level it spoilt the game for me. Lastly the grind is just too long, for me to go from adv to proto Logi will take 1.9M SP which translates to about two months, I can't wait that long for something to change. I plan on keeping an eye on Dust but only time will tell. |

most of this is the same for me. Im looking at 4 psn accounts, 12 dust accounts just to be able to jump into the game at different angles. Another thing that would help is a character switch or log out option so I can get to my characters without having to reboot the game. |

sign out of psn then back in and it will boot you to the home page.
I just got my respect and went strait into the proto logi suit, complex armor and shield and it cost me 4,680,000 sp. |
