I will remain a dedicated supporter of Dust 514, even if I can't stand to play or grind on it for any point.
I started this month and its basically nearly impossible to advance in the game or "catch up", the only game-modes are standard PVP and the other members are proto, there is no hope of catching up. Is it worth my time? no. I love the idea of the game, the load-out system, the monthly updates (I really do appreciate), the assortments of ways to play the game.
Dust 514 has become the center of my living room today, but its hardly playable. Sure I have had fun moments when im not dead 5 million times over in one match. I would appreciate it if CCP would put in a ELO rating or skill matching system that would make the matches 60% less one sided. I find the only way I don't stand out like a tooth pick is when I'm backing up protos on my team, which is a rare thing to find in most cases.
I am subscribed to a number of Dust 514 players, some of which have been players as soon as the first beta of released. I continue to support them. its the vision I share with CCP that counts. I really don't care about EVE integration, it is a nice thought but not really in the game. one thing that would get me a slight more interested is focusing instead on the corporation system. I own my own corp and the only thing I can admire in it is its name of which I picked.
The grind would be less of a problem to me if there were more moment to moment rewards for each match, like a visual reading or scene or music (something non repetitive) make me feel like I went to those planets, share some culture, some npc interaction. That might be a little too hard to pull off but it would bring a triple title feel to the game.
I will be reading the updates, the forums, the videos on this game, I hope the years will turn my thoughts around as I enjoy this games down the road. |

There are essentially three reasons I'm going to play Dust a lot less. Firstly the daily downtime is a major inconvenience for me, does it really have to be every single day and if it does could they vary the time a little. Second, I made the mistake of trying out mouse and keyboard. I've never played an FPS on a PC but I was aware of the claim that mouse and keyboard is superior, I found that claim to be very true. Although moving around was a lot harder for me aiming was so much easier, my KDR went from 0.5 (I play Logi) to about 4 after a couple of matches. Now that I know the playing field isn't level it spoilt the game for me. Lastly the grind is just too long, for me to go from adv to proto Logi will take 1.9M SP which translates to about two months, I can't wait that long for something to change. I plan on keeping an eye on Dust but only time will tell.
most of this is the same for me. Im looking at 4 psn accounts, 12 dust accounts just to be able to jump into the game at different angles. Another thing that would help is a character switch or log out option so I can get to my characters without having to reboot the game. |
