First of all, basic ones are terrible. Move up ASAP.
The best suit to use with these is definitely the minmatar scout, since it's not only the fastest, but the skill ads tons of damage to the knives. Hackers are very easy prey, so go after them first. If someone sees you, either jump/sprint while swinging until they die (max out the biotic upgrades; you'll not only be able to use kinetic catylizers, but you'll have a 5% bonus to all things stamina and sprint related)
Another option is someone sees them is to play the environment. Keep blocking their line of sight so they can't shoot you (and hopefully lose track of you), then use your superior scout scanning to get the jump on them around a corner.
Last but not least, use active scanners as your equipment of choice. It's very useful for seeing any reds that may be hiding, and keeping track of your target. I personally prefer regular active scanners (for standard variants) because it scans at a much wider degree than flux. |

Well, as my co-worker/teacher said, bunny hopping is not a sin! :D
It's mostly about making sure your enemy can't easily get their sights on you. Hit detection is an issue though, and if they're aiming right behind you, it still registers a hit. But if you have high enough FPS, sometimes if your enemy is lagging, you can just walk up next to them while I rage quit and get a quick kill. I've ended many-a prototypes that way. :) |

Unless you've got some speed, don't even bother.
Knifers are very easy targets. However the fast lil buggers in proto suits are a different story. |

Maybe consider changing your gameplay if Knives are how you want to go. They are more the stalker type weapon, if your prey spots you just run. You have a +40% to shields and a +20% to armor, your charged does double damage. |
