Wanted to recommend allowing weapon sights/attachments that are already in the game, to be swapped and switched for testing.
Example, attaching the SMG sight on to an assault rifle. Putting a scrambler rifle sight on a scrambler pistol. Or removing the sight from a weapon.
Let's work with the sights that are already IN-GAME. Then just go from there.
Love to put the SMG sight on to an assault rifle. Example, that would have a reduced benefit for tactical ARs, since you won't have the precision at long range that you're used to, but now you can use the tactical more at mid range. This would make using regular ARs even more precise at longer range, etc.
It would be a matter of preference across the board, and helps customization.
Allow attachment swaps/removals for every weapon that has a visible attachment rack: ARs, Sniper Rifles, Laser Rifles, Shotguns, Scrambler Rifles, Scrambler Pistols, Flaylock Pistols, and SMGs.
These sights are already in game, and have decent functionality. Just allow people to swap them accordingly. You can add more sights with different forms of function (nightvision, variable zoom, etc.) later.
Attachment customization has been promised for a long time. Again, you already have some in game. Work with those, then grow form there. Let's start delivering on promises. Doing something as small as this, would show the playerbase that you haven't forgotten something as elementary as this. |

I think another valuable attachment would be something like armor piercing rounds. Not talking like one shot one kill kind of thing, just something that would drop a heavy in less than two mags.
I think OP has a very valid point. Half of the weapons you look at in viewer already have something like an acog on the weapon, but, in game you are ads with iron sights.
Yeah, allowing people to choose from the sights currently in game would basically be giving us some of the promised attachment customization, without introducing crazy game-changing scenarios like tube grenade launchers, or recoil reduction grips, etc.
An acog scope on a sniper rifle in Dust for example, would not be as potent (and OP) as an acog scope on a semi-auto sniper in battlefield 3. Because Dust sniper rifles have a very low RoF, and very small magazines. They don't have the same dps per magazine as closer range weapons. The SMG scope on a tactical AR would even out its balance, because the tac AR does not shoot as fast as it used to. Furthermore, it's clip is smaller. It won't be as precise at long range, but would be slightly easier to use at closer range.
On the other hand, if you put a sniper scope on a AR, you will now be more accurate at longer ranges, but the kick will throw off your aim, and you will suffer when trying to ADS at closer ranges.
The physics in place to balance different attachments are already in place... We just need to be allowed to use different attachments. |

The kick and recoil from the Duvolle AR would still be there, and you will have the disadvantage of reduced ADS efficiency at closer ranges. So if you can manage that, and you're happy, and it makes you that much more efficient in a match, then why not?
It's not like the ARs range is going to be magically increased.
I see ARs with SMG sights being more of the "flavor of the month" setup, but you can never tell how these things will play out... ...and that's why I say, let's introduce it. |

wait a second.. that brings up a point- I'm a little worried about seeing something like a sniper with a short range sight.
This actually won't be that much of a problem. Sniper Rifles have very low RoF, and their DPS per clip is.... negligible vs. ARs.
So a sniper can put a short range sight on, but he would still get chewed up in a fight. It's not an assault weapon. lol
(Unlike, Battlefield 3, where you can put an ACOG sight on a semi-auto sniper rifle and basically have the most OP weapon in the game.) |
