So no one ever "goes negative".
....
This has been a public service announcement brought to you by your friendly neighborhood hooc.
I thought that I was the only one in this game who thought it was dumb everytime someone said they "went negative". Thank god there are other people that can do math in this game.
Seriously, I could *maybe*, understand if it was something that a player had to calculate.... I guess...? But it's NOT, it's a damn number that shows up in multiple places.... and it never has a negative sign.
So, if you can't do math, okay, but learn to read at least..... |

I see where you are going but if your kills are not above your deaths it still doesn't mean that your kills are less than nothing. For that to happen your kills would have to be less than zero.....

This of course doesn't apply to support characters, only slayers or wanna be slayers
Well, I thought you were implying this dude..... you mention the idea of negative being something less than nothing (0). Then you say if your kills are less than your deaths and you do the thing with the dots..... you know, like I should ponder your statement.
So, I stretch out and think "okay, how low can my kills get? Sure, zero is the lowest, and that's still not lower than nothing"
Ouch, some of the logic in this thread is making my head hurt. It's a thread about KDR but if we wanna talk about something else and you want me to guess what it is.... use more dots at the end of your sentences, maybe that will help. |

Severance Pay wrote:It is simple logic really. If your KDR goes down it is being reduced. This implies subraction and to do that we must apply a negative value. It is because KDR is an average we do not see the negative numbers.
Oh my God. Forget it.... it is simple logic, really.
KDR = Kill to Death ratio. In mathematical terms this means Kills / Deaths = some number. For "some number" to be negative, either number of kills or number of deaths needs to be negative.
If by "going negative" people really mean, "my KDR is decreasing", okay - I sort of get this. But, at no point is the actual KDR negative.... nor is anything being subtracted anywhere.
Average is (Number 1 + Number 2 + .....+ Number N) / total number of numbers in the sequence.
There is no 'subtraction' there, implied or otherwise.
But peace! I see where you guys are going with your somewhat illogical math and logic.

(Unless they don't know what they are saying) People say go negative because they are referring to your kills-deaths=negative.
+1 to someone for actually saying something about 'going negative' that makes sense....
