I prefer Skirmish. More objectives and avenues of approach for ground troops makes it interesting. There might be miracles such as somebody wanting transportation, too. Domination, on the flip side, dictates only one area of interest with highest concentration of potential AV; red zones are bigger, limiting airspace on already cramped maps even more.
Regular Ambush is occasionally fun for thrill-seeking pancake-and-run action and hunting blaster tanks. |

gbghg wrote:Domination, in my experience you tend to run into less redline tanks though there are always exceptions, skirmish is good but too many turrets and redline tanks/forge gunners imo. And ambush is terrible due to the lack of safe places to call in a dropship. When I warm up before squadding up, I usually rail snipe in Domination. Most of the infantry and vehicles are congested around one objective, and red line is harder to access for AV other than other rail tanks. Plus, fewer spawn points that are generally situated closer to the hot zone than in Skirmish.
From what I could tell, it's the map that dictates the amount of railgun threat. Two out of three variations of both Skim Junction and Iron Delta are suitable for aerial operations, as well as Line Harvest. Manus Flat, Spine Crescent, and Ashland are practically a shooting gallery. |

That's the point. I always check names before devising my "battle plans", you just won't see me in the air. =) Speaking of which, I cope by shooting dropships down with railguns. As a bonus, I get to ruin RDVs' day. |

Both teams rush to deploy their artillery first so they can glass the enemy red zone before they do the same. I can't imagine what bomber dropships will turn out to be like, bearing ADS camera in mind. |

From my testing that actually doesn't do anything anymore You might scratch my shields, maybe. I actually have only called it in once or twice, the militia forge gun has been far more than enough for all but assault dropships, which my Gorgon handles exceptionally well. I've specced into forges along the way, and there are some instances when they are more fun to wield than using rail tanks. Tower defence, for example. Or ambushing tanks that come to assault the red zone. |

DUST Fiend wrote:I can't buy boosters so I have to be super stingy with my SP, and I'm only 1/5 of the way to prototype commando if it's any good, so I have to keep on saving. My build is built around the fact that it's going to take me a long time to finish it, so as it stands, weaponry level 5 isn't a possibility. The militia forge works just fine. I was able to skill into all I wanted to have after the respec, including a basic DPS forge fit, then slowly started to improve it. Had to halt the progress just to stock up on SP, in case Pilot suits are worth it at all. If not I'll just dump it into finalising my infantry AV fit. |

Felix Faraday wrote:Run a MLT Swarm fit while in your tank. Jump out, fire a shot or two at the DS, watch it run away. Watch it blow up as it runs if it's a railtank. The swarm trick didn't work on me, although only used once. A guy hopped out of his rail tank, fired off a volley and tried to recall the tank after an oh-crap moment. Didn't take me much time to recover my aim, but he lost time he could spend just to recall his tank. Burned the tank and shot the operator in the back. Then he came back. This time he just recalled the tank after I opened up on him. I still got to shoot the guy in the back.
Forges do a much better job, of course there are downsides. |

Felix Faraday wrote:He should have just kept firing. It's pretty hard to maintain aim when getting hit by swarms, they can jump you around quite a bit. He probably should have, although I would still try to nail him with a missile before bugging out. |
