What if ccps trying to perfect dust514 before ps4? I think the dust client might come pre-downladed on all ps4s. |

Then they have a long way to go, and approximately not a lot of time to do it, as the PS4 will be released sometimes before the holidays. (Christmas) I hate the fact that's all I know about the release date though. |

It wouldn't be impossible for there to be (or have been) some possibility of working for the PS4 on launch. Working with a behemoth like Sony in that manner seems less likely. |

Probably not. Why have it pre-installed when you can just download it from the store.
Also if CCP was going to be available on the PS4 at launch we would have heard something by now.
Anyway you, or anybody probably should not buy any console at launch...it is a bad idea there are always problems.
If Dust is still around 4 to 6 months after PS4 launch i am sure there will be a port.
Take a deep breath and just relax on the whole Dust on PS4 thing. |

There's an interview at mmobomb with some dude representing Dust/CCP @E3 and was asked about the PS4 ...he said their focus is on the PS3.
So probably not.

My gut feeling is November (Early to Mid) as the date of release. One I think there is a national holiday in America in November and two Sony needs to allow retailers a good lead up for Christmas worldwide. |

I have a theory
The unreal4 engine will allow a smooth transition of dust and will upscale graphics and performance that will fit nicely into the ps4

As much as I love DUST, it wouldn't make sense for any free to play game to come pre-installed on the PS4, save perhaps for that certain game that certain people in this forum can't stop carrying on about. Seeing as Sony owns that game, it would be the only one that makes sense for Sony to push hard for. Seeing as they get 100% of all profits.
And I'm fairly certain DUST won't go to Unreal 4, and will instead go to Carbon. I've seen Carbon on my high end PC in EVE, and it does look -very- impressive. Not sure how fast it will get to being on Carbon though, as that won't likely happen until the PS3 is being phased out. I could be wrong though. |

Well its not that I belive that dust is going to be pre installed but I think ccp will see the ps4 as a chance to get some new fresh blood in the system with new players that won't ***** about the then hopefully clean, glitch free dust. Now that I say it, it is really hard to imagine dust as a problem free game lol it almost seems professional |

Or Carbon Engine.
CCP MUST have something up their sleeves we don't know about. Otherwise they wouldn't be sitting here chilling like the broken game is no big deal. |

It obviously won't be pre-installed on the PS4. You will need PS Plus to play multiplayer on the PS4, and Dust is multiplayer-only. And if you play Dust and not any of the free games for PS Plus, then yep, Dust is no longer free-to-play, amounting to about $60 a year. |

Dont get me wrong, i would have loved Dust on the carbon engine but ive got a feeling that the current version of this game based on the unreal engine frame work would be more compatible with unreal4 rather than carbon at this stage and if the players and CCP want to go next gen in our life time then the Unreal engine would be the way to go
Who knows maybe unreal will give there existing customer a discount on trade in hehe

Better this way. The game is far from being out of Beta. At the moment it freezes very often again. At least on my console. Also there's no need to make a PS4 version if they don't even use the full potential of the PS3. |

This is only true for companies that use Sony's servers, which I don't think CCP will be using since dust is on TQ. |

I agree. CCPs' apathy towards their own brain child just seems 2 suspicious! For our sake & for CCPs' sake I hope & pray they git something big planned they havent told us yet. & if this game doesnt come out 4 ps4 at all, then its dead already cuz once new consoles r out bye bye ps3 community lol |

If CCP were smart, they'd be working on getting DUST 514 working on the Carbon engine for the PS4.
That would make life a lot easier for them, as they'll have their entire development staff working on assets off the same engine, and you'd get better interactivity between DUST and EVE, and better turnaround times for features. |

mmmm I dont think they are working on the ps4 much, I think they are trying to squeeze every thing out of the ps3 so when they get to the ps4 they can keep the ps3 version running for as long as possible along side it.
frankly I'm at the point I wish they would just tell us all that the PS3 is being dropped and that they are focusing on developing for next gen. Whether or not they leave the PS3 servers up I don't care but PS3 can't handle this game they need to move on on the development side. |

Developing a long term project for what is going to soon become a cannibalized market isn't a good thing.
Starting a few months before the PS4 release, CCP can pretty much count on zero growth/gains from the DUST project. The only way they will be able to maintain DUST as a long term project is if they expand DUST into the PS4 market as a new long-term program and maintain legacy support for the PS3 until the activity drops below the maintenance threshold.
This will give them more hardware power to work with, and assuming the can get CARBON to work on the platform. It would also give them the entire lifetime of the console to grow a player base, as long as they give it as much attention as EVE Online as far as keeping it up to date.
We could all overdose opiates and optimism and say that CCP could produce a much better product in line with their vision. A more realistic approach is that they f*ck it up and decide that it's better to stick to promoting spaceships as serious business, and leave DUST as another in a long line of half-assed projects. |
