Now I asked my self "we can loot downed ships in EVE. But we can't loot dead mercs in DUST?". So I came up with a simple system that would work pretty well I think. In this system, a point where a merc dies becomes a looting point that any one on the battle field can loot for a certain percentage of the ISK that went into the fitting. And if you loot a dead allies body, you (in addition to gaining ISK) also return a random item to the original player.
Now each suit in DUST could have a certain number of "Loot slots", which get filled each time you loot a merc. And in order to get the reward for looting, you must return the loot to a friendly supply depot. And if you get killed with loot on you, somebody can take the loot you were carrying as well as your own. If it's to wild of a concept, you could just get the ISK upon looting.
I think this would make DUST more like EVE if you had the ability to loot. In closing I would like to say thanks for reading and leave any ideas you may have. |

The flaw with this Idea is that when you die, your Body is eaten by Nanites, so there would Be Nothing to take.
Nice Idea. Just there is a bit of lore that prevents it. |

lore or no lore, this would make the game feel less like a generic shooter and should be considered. |

maybe the lore could be modified so that when you die the nanites eat the clone leaving the empty suite? I know this is a feeble attempt to change the lore, but it seems stupid to throw away a good idea just because the lore prevents it. |

Wait a minute, you get items at the end of most matches that is labeled as loot. So that kind of goes against the lore. |

And how would you propose this looting mechanic works? Just kneel down and scoop something up and it magically teleports to your assets? Do you have to lug it back to a supply depo? Does it require an equipment slot to salvage?
If it's just so anybody can do it, all this mechanic would do is incentive close combat fighting even more than it currently does. I mean, if I can run up, shoot somebody from a short distance, then run over to their corpse and get bonus loot per kill, that just makes me -that- much more profitable than the guy who gives me cover fire from a short distance away, or a sniper, or even a tank driver who isn't going to risk hopping out of their vehicle every 10 seconds to get loot.
This could easily be a mechanic which would be little better than the concept of "Get 25 extra WP if you kill somebody within X distance" because it just means that close quarters fighters just get more loot, and it disincentives people from fighting at longer ranges.
Not to mention it will disrupt the flow of combat, if every kill people are scrambling to pick at the bodies of every player they slay. As a quick example, in older MMOs, such as how WoW used to do it, you had to stop and loot every body, which while earning you gold, meant you had to take that extra little pause after every couple of kills to loot.
This also would become troublesome because how frustrating would it be to kill somebody in a protosuit, only to have some scout out run you and steal the salvage from under you? |

It would take a certain amount of time to loot somebody so you would not just swoop in during a battle and take the riches because you will get killed while looting. this doesn't get rid of regular ISK you get at the end of a battle. and the whole point of this system is to make it more scavenger like. |

why is it that a post as trivial as "i want more ISK!" will get more attention and likes than a serious post about game mechanics? |

Loting dead mercs for modules, weapons, equipment +1; looting dead allies -1 mostly because you can just save them their entire suit if you revive them with a nanite injector |

You would be able to do it after they can't be revived. |
