This is something that has been in my mind for awhile and I'd just like to share it with everyone and get some feedback and thoughts on the idea.
WEATHER
Types - Snow, Rain, Storm, Sand Storm (Haboobs), Wind Storms
My thought as far as weather is that weather will have an influence on players and their weapons.
Snow - Weapons take longer to overheat Rain - Weapons take longer to overheat Storm - Weapons take longer to overheat/shield regen takes longer due to EM interference from lightning Sand Storm - Projectile weapons occasionally jam due to grit getting in the mechanics/reduced visibility for all players/decreased scan profile bonus for all players
Wind Storm - Slight movement penalty for all players/Vehicles are buffeted by wind
.........................................................................................................................................................................................................
PLANET TYPE
Types - Temperate, Plasma/Storm, Lava, Water, Ice, Desert
My thought as far as planet types is that they too will have and influence on players and their weapons.
Temperate - Weather varies so the only influence will be from the weather at the current time Plasma/Storm - EM interference causes false radar signatures/longer shield regen times/smaller scan profiles Lava - Weapons overheat quickly/armor regens slowly with repairers Water - Weapons take longer to overheat due to high humidity/perhaps some condensation on the players' "visors" Ice - Weapons take longer to overheat/cloaking mods more efficient/perhaps projectile weapons have a shorter range due to higher air density
Desert - Weapons overheat quickly/projectile weapons occasionally jam from dust and sand
.........................................................................................................................................................................................................

I fully support this idea, and think it would be an amazing addition to the game. I'd suggest that to differentiate snow from rain is snow makes overheating take longer than rain, and if they messed with scanners a bit, but less so than a Sand Storm. Also, I don't think a Storm effect should really make laser weapons take longer to overheat. (unless there is a rain+storm effect) I imagine a storm being more of just an Ion Storm, or Thunder Storm, etc that would blitz sensors.
Also Wind Storm wouldn't just provide a move penalty, it would also provide a move buff, depending on the speed you are going.
Also, you can modify it so Every planet has a slightly different gravity. (Although for temperate it would probably only modify by +/- 1 m/s at most. |

How about in sand storms all laser weapons have slightly less accuracy due to the particulates in the air dispersing their beams? |

i posted this in an older thread
my 2 isk
Lava planets: these would require u to fit a heat sink to ur suit to stop over heating (just a thought)
ice planets: require u to fit some form of radiatior or thermal lining
storm planets: require u to fit idk enhanced scanners due to atmospheric disturbance or lighting conductors and if u get struck by lightning u lose shields? just speculating NO MINI MAP due to systems being inafective in said environment therefore losing a med or low slot to fit anti atmospheric mod
gas planets: as stated floating platforms as u tend to harvest gas on these from the atmosphere so dropship orientated
temperate planets: forests/jungle vehicles possibly useless especially ground ones so gurilla warfare
oceanic planets: im sure someone mention platforms again u would need something to move between them some form of small craft would do as u already got dropships so u talking a 2-3 man boat with a turret like a lav no need to go full on battleship
plasma planet: again something to protect u from the harsh atmosphere like on storm planets anti atmospheric mod again NO MINI MAP due to said atmosphere
barren planet: i know we have been playing on this type already but whats wrong with thowing in the odd sandstorm and reducing visabillity to a few meters same for all planets if its possible make the weather interfere with combat
im sure i saw a thread on gravity effects too as not all planets are the same size mass |

Maybe The Rain Could Have Two Types, Water, and Acid. The Acid Rain Burns trough Exposed Armor, and the like.

See, I don't want the environment to directly damage the player, just interfere with. For example on the lava world, the intense heat would put strain on armor plates thus making their repair rate slower, not a constant damage effect.
I don't think players will be too enthused if they are killed by the environment - for example lets say I eat through your shields and get you down to 20 armor, but the "acid rain" eats through your exposed unshielded armor and kills your before your shields can regen.

You just had this Idea ? Quite funny I made a post on the same topic 1 week ago
You only added some aspect and claim the Idea to be yours but the Idea is the same . When you use other people Idea have enough respect to say it. |

My bad if it comes across as "idea stealing," but I have never been in the feedback section of the forums....I've had the idea for quite awhile now and posted it in general discussions but was advised to post it here as well.

Yeah I said wind should buffet vehicles and players, but snow and rain should make vehicles have less traction, while perhaps the sand storms can give them a slight movement penalty. |

On storm planet due to electromagnetic storm , vehicule should not be able to be used. I'm a tank/lav/dropship pilot but considering the heavy chance they can get hit by lightning + the environnement similar to EMP attack in real life it would make no sense if vehicule the way they are at the moment could be used.
Maybe we would have to add some sort of modules to counter this EMP effect but sinces CCP does not give us much PG and CPU on vehicules and dropship there would not be much space to add some modules
On oceanic planet maybe we could get some sort of boat and submarine as vehicules + the regular dropship |
