PC is nothing more than a vehicle for passive income for the "cool" kids.
The rest of us need to suffer through pubs (whether called FW or Instant Battles!!) where the very same cool kids come to play in their cool kid proto gear. |

Some of us also never even started it cause despite her being hot, we knew she had AIDS. |

Yeah, good point.
Timers need to go, scheduled battles go against the spirit of the game. Anyone should be able to attack any district at any time with timers being an afterthought (similar to how they are in Eve).
IMHO, the passive income NEEDS to go too. PC should open up opportunities for active wealth generation (dust anomaly plexing or something along those lines) so that holding the land and being active with the land is what is important.
Make it so that the anomaly plexing can be interfered with (i.e. give us PvPvE). Give us a place where we need to go and be active that is OURS and benefits those who ACTIVELY utilize the resources at their disposal.
Passive is bad m'kay? Make it so that the people who want to reap the benefits of owning districts need to actually play to gain said benefits. If they don't want to PVE, then I guess they don't want reap that wealth.
Just my thoughts on the matter, things I was hoping for before PC was released and the reasons why I have thought it was broken from the start (just from an outsiders perspective). |

Yes PC is taking up a lot of Dev time, because it's the crux of Dust. Without it all the have is a subpart lobby shooter, a game they will fail at, as they've proven over and over.
Sure it's in a state where a lot of the playerbase isn't involved in it, because it has enough problems that they don't WANT to be involved; it's not that they're being crowded out.
Do you think those problems are going to fix themselves?
Nope, as a matter of fact, I think that the current brokenness will prevent PC from ever being a viable "thing".
As it stands now, it only exists for a small percentage of the playerbase who are masochists. As time drags on, these masochists will amass large amounts of passive wealth allowing them the wherewithal to close out any other participants once future PC regions are opened (hopefully not until after the other problems are fixed).
Not only will they be able to close out others from PC with said passively generated wealth, they will use it to "prove their manhood" by running around in pubs roflstomping anyone who doesn't want to field a full squad of protoscrubs. Oh, can't forget about the I'm-Fresh-Out-Of-Academy newbs who very well may just uninstall and forget the game if they get faceraped straight out of the gate.
Can't have a game without a playerbase.
In closing, Passive Wealth is bad, m'kay? |
