So i don't know how many hardcore gamers our out there, that have tons of games and things.
But i do find that deleting some games you don't play, and some game install data of games you don't play, of course this frees up more HDD space.
I don't know, but when i am under 75 gb on my 300 gb ps3. (Regular HDD that came with it) I have more problems, with not just Dust but a lot of games.
Keeping it above 130 gb seems to keep things under control.
Just a tip, if your getting frame rate lag, try deleting some things it could help.
Have a good day. |

I could delete Dust 514. But is only about 2gb of data, and that is not bad for a MMO. Most MMO's i play are about 20gb+, so i may keep Dust for a bit longer. |

Don't know about games, but I'm fairly certain stuff like having too many messages sent/ received, or too many themes installed CAN slow things down at times, be sure to clear non-important messages often and not have too many themes installed at once, not like you'll use them all constantly anyways |

Not at all.
I had a full 320gb PS3 slim and all my games ran like they were on a typewriter. After formatting my PS3 in it's entirety and having only installed the games & add-ons that I'm playing at the time, Dust and everything else ran a lot smoother.
I wouldn't say it helps with network lag, but it does help with input lag and frame rate. |

That's funny cause I got a 500 gig SSHD and it is still horrible. |

You guys are funny. performance does decrease as you fill up your hard drive. The reason for this is that hard drives have the highest transfer rates on the outer area of the platter. As you move progressively toward the inner area, the transfer rate decreases. |

The real cause is Fragmentation. Not that I'd expect much of a performance boost. I've literally wiped my HDD and installed only DUST only to find it still performing poorly.
That said, I have a fairly old model PS3. A friend who also plays visited once and said it performs a lot better on his. |

its probably has more to do with an inefficent file system sony uses. Most file systems just plop a file down where there is space leaving heavy fragmentation over time. Thus the HDD actually has to search for all the fragments and where they are located at which is a far far far more likely scenario than to what Nick Comeau suggested. |

So the speed at which my game loads magically slows the speed of the game after it is loaded?

This is bullshit, i got a 1 week old 500gb with only dust installed, the lag is the same as my old 160 gb with 40 gb free.
Its the game / CCPs servers not your ps3. Your advice is like blaming the length of downtime on your internet connection |
