My favourite game from E3 was Titanfall - there was a moment in the gameplay footage when the player looks up at the skybox and there's an incredible amount going on. Then this fleet of ships warp in Eve-style right above the battlefield and I thought - 'Wow, this is what Dust should look like'.
But then I realised it is just all scripted stuff. Dust is on a path to create similar scenes but completely player driven.
Yes it looks pretty - but it's just been lashed together by an art director.
E3 made me realise how shallow most shooters are - I'm with dust for the long haul.
Long Live Dust.

how dare you COMPARE titanfall a MASTERPIECE of FPS gaming which i watched 100 times of the awesomeness in there with DUST....
i just can't accept it dude!!

Yeah - not saying it doesn't look awesome and I'd love to play it - but Dust is a thinking man's game. It will take time but some years down the line i'll look at the sky and see an Eve fleet warp in.

It will take time but some years down the line i'll look at the sky and see an Eve fleet warp in. Not a CCP alt - been with a small corp for around 4/5 months A "thinking man's" game?
As in, "I think I'm going to play another game."

EVE is a sandbox. Player interaction is the content.
Most games have you playing dry, boring, scripted content and leave you with a shallow endgame of raids and battlegrounds. Maybe if you're lucky, you can decorate a little instanced house nobody else cares about.
In EVE you can be a part of virtual empires, massive battles, politics between real players, etc.
Oh I know what CCP has delivered. The best MMO on the market. The only games even comparable are buggy underfunded games made by basement companies with no funding like Darkfall, Mortal Online, Wurm Online, and Xsyon. And every single one of those games is still more fun than WoW, TOR, LotRO, Rift, Aion, and all the other trashy little themepark pieces of crap. |
